(Topic has multiple pages1 2 )
Hi Prospectors, I asked our Social Media Guru Paul to create this area within the Forum to make it a bit easier for me to see and respond to Members Prospecting & Mining questions. There have been a number of occasions that I have missed questions that were directed to me, this is not going to be the case any longer. I can't say that I will respond immediately because of of my schedule and the fact that there are a lot of places I travel that simply do not have connectivity. But know tha...

1 Replies and 1597 Views new terminology  1597  1 Started by  Banquogordon@gmail.com I was recently doing some map research on potential prospecting locations in my state. A VERY promising location showed up inside a National Forest. So I started looking into National Forest prospecting regs. They vary massively from one state to another, but all are based in the same federal statute. Apparently, it is simply how some local fellow interprets the wording. Which brings me to a term I have not heard or understand. What is 'collecting gold by hand' Now, obviously, I can...

5 Replies and 1110 Views Going out to claim  1110  5 Started by  LBDON173@HOTMAIL.COM Wondering if there is a section in the Forum that one can ask if anyone will be on a particular claim on a particular day I'm going to Placer Pete on Tuesday and would rather be around other GPAA members than by myself as per my wife, who's worried about my health. Thank you.

8 Replies and 3109 Views Eagle Eye Claim South Dakota  3109  8 Started by  sdreaume@gmail.com Already lost the rainbow now it looks like the Eagle Eye, This is from the minutes in the local club. brought up that He, along with & AAAA have a lease agreement with the GPAA on the Eagle Eye. They are not expecting to renew the lease and the three of them would like to give the club members exclusive rights to the 80-acre claim. The claim is on both sides of the road. Estes Creek runs thru it. I removed the names of the people for their privacy. What is going on, why a we...

1 Replies and 1727 Views Upcoming Bautista Meet up Questions  1727  1 Started by  srandall@hughes.net I'm new to GPAA even though I've been off and on gold panning Central CA for about 20 years. I signed up for the Bautista Claim meet up on 18-19 October because I've never searched for gold in anyplace that wasn't a creek or river. I own 2 sluices (and a highbanker set-up), pans, and 2 metal detectors. But I don't know what to use in Bautista as I see it's a dry, desert like area and I don't own or have ever used a dry washer. I'm eager to learn during the 2 day event, but kind of prospectin...

0 Replies and 1494 Views Claim Access  1494  0 Started by  dgv_6454@bendbroadband.com Hi, I am pursuing a problem that my partners and I have encountered concerning access to our claim. First, is it legal to be denied access to a current, viable, legal claim with BLM by a private property owner From my understanding you can not be landlocked. This claim is in the Libby Montana area. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Don Vedder

1 Replies and 2016 Views OHIO gold  2016  1 Started by  Usnavy7738@gmail.com Found this in Richland County and am a bit curious. I am new to prospecting, past 6-8 months. Being in Ohio, obviously not much more then specs and flour gold. But this caught my eye. It was very dirty and there what looks like different types of metals possibly. It is not solid quartz as the photos may depict, more of a hard ' blue cheese' mineral. But under my kids microscope (don't judge) it certainly has a compelling argument I guess. Any help please

I did not bring my Monster, but checked mine when I got home and found it was a Gen1. Will all the tips you gave for the Gen 2 work on mine And do you have a video available that covers the lecture you gave on the Gen 2 Also you talked about a trsanitter/receiver for wireless headphones, but I didn't catch where I could get one.

6 Replies and 4201 Views US Claim Map  4201  6 Started by  gt2c@yahoo.com Is there a map of the United States with all the claims on it (like the LDMA has) It'd be great if it was like the old push pin style. It doesn't have to be super tight resolution - we have the claims directory on the website to zoom in with. I will be retiring in a few years and I want to retire to a place that has claims in close proximity. Such a map might also be useful to other members that have to plan travel from afar for their trips. Thanks, gt

14 Replies and 4532 Views metal detectors  4532  14 Started by  sergprinting@sbcglobal.net Hi Kevin, or anyone that knows about metal detectors, was thinking of getting one, but which, there are so many types. I just started crevicing past months and been doing good with what I have, using my probe & what I learned from Gary'two-toes', figuring which crevice to work. Thinking a metal detector would help to work the bedrock crevices & gravel beds, any suggestions as to which I should probably get, budget around $1,500.oo or so, would spend more if worth it. Is the one they give away...

0 Replies and 1122 Views Three Fault Claim - Maricopa Co AZ  1122  0 Started by  jlcurtz@aol.com I liked the Three Fault Claim, but never found any gold there. There were several write ups about this claim, first it was shown as Three Fault, then 3 Fault 1 & 2. Now it seems it's no longer an active GPAA claim. Is it gone for good John Curtis 2935546

1 Replies and 2886 Views Dumb Luck  2886  1 Started by  frgeon@yahoo.com Kevin/Gpaa, There seems to be some discrepancy on the location of this claim in Maricopa County Az. There are multiple locations listed in the 'Getting there' comments for the online guide. There is also no sinage/corner markers for either location in the ground. Can you verify the actual plot this claim is on Thank you in advance! Jon
