I live in western NY Near Buffalo, there is no GPAA chapter near here yet I have found people who prospect and do not know what rights they have or what they are limited to. I personally have a hard time getting a consistent answer to what can and can not be done. I would like to have a representation for prospectors in my corner of New York. what can I do to get this all started with legal / state representation and a GPAA recognized group

    hey Robert,
I am not sure what the different laws are from the west to the east sides of the us, however they guy you would need to speak to is Director of Chapters-Richard Robinson rrobinson@goldprospectors.org
as far as starting a new chapter. I know I was told I needed at least 10 gpaa members to organize your committee board (I.E president, VP, secretary, treasurer, outings coordinator, equipment manager ect..) before you can become an official chapter. at that point your elected officials in your chapter will conduct chapter meeting and teach other members or new comers about the awesomeness of prospecting. perhaps someone else can chime in and give you a bit more info
