Going to get a chance to use my 12" Chris (from Crisson Gold Mine) Designed Water powered trommel.  You can see them on www.aworldapart.com    search water powered trommel

During bench testing at a pond near my house, I was able to recover coarse, flake and flour with ease.  Re-panned my cons and found quite a bit of flypoop gold as well.

I cannot wait to actually run this creekside, sampling some promising areas.

I will post up results, win lose or draw!

    Golden Dayz,

    Brad

Well, my friend's creek was sampled exhaustively and not even a spec.

I took the trommel to a smaller creek that our club leases and did not expect enough water to use it. I was able to run about 20 gals of material and got some flakes and a lot of specs. On a positive note, at least I did not get skunked, lol and had a blast running the trommel.

    Joseph,

It really chewed through the red/blue clay and I got mostly wire gold (one picker) and quite a bit of flake. The heavy clays presented real problems for highbanker, dredge and wheel type recovery devices. Finally, a piece of equipment that did much better than I had expected.

This small trommel, easily moved by one person up and down creek sides, is one of the best "hobby" investments that I have ever made and is my go-to piece of equipment for GA and SC gold.

I will put together a product review with pics for the forum.
