Rockhound State Park

The park is known for thunder eggs. I have stopped and spent several mornings rock hounding there when traveling across country. The eggs look like petrified poop. But so pretty when you cut them open. Great views from the hills you prospect. I even found a little gold panning some dirt dug for a drainage ditch.

THIS IS A FUN PLACE. The rangers are very friendly and tell you the location of various types of minerals. They will even identify the rocks you have found and tell you the best way to clean them for presentation. You are allowed to remove 5# of rocks per visit. There is even a campground there.
