I was there to prospect a new claim. I dug about 50 holes and did Roughly 100 pans over 2 days. Consistently I found visible peices of gold in an un-seasoned pan. There is plenty of black sands and lots of boulders to work around. Also plenty of turns to the creek with gravel bars.

Went to corn house over weekend while staying at Alabama gold camp to check it out. The road was in rough shape. The hill going down to claim had ruts about foot to foot and half deep and you must cross rut about half way down the hill on a slab of bedrock or you will go off in them . Wouldn't try in a smaller truck or car or if its dry can go in full size 2x4 but if its rained lately wouldn't try without a 4x4 or atv. You probably wont get back out to easy.

As far as prospecting. done some panning found a few colors. But creek was running higher than normal because of rains lately. Gravel bars was still under water so didnt get to try them.

For this year at least u til we do some clean up. I would leave animals and young children back at camp. And bring an extra trash bag or 2 with you.

Went Labor Day weekend 2023. 9 mile drive up log going roads and paved roads from Alabama gold camp, directions listed are spot on. We went by SxS ATV and it was a nice ride, I wouldn’t drive the access in a low clearance car. Once at the creek we saw we there was a Massive log jam 300’ up creek - some fellows went up creek but used an inflatable kayak to transport equipment as water was waist deep to the jam, we just set up in the rock shoal near the access point and dredged 2 hours about 1/3 cy and back filled it using 2” dredge. Did nice however, we had 40+ colors after running the cons - a lot of flour, but nice to find the color. We never made it to the clay layer which others we ran into said is about 3’ down, we just went about 18” at the deepest - all in all can’t wait to go back and run longer 😁
