I’m also a new member and wondering that if you go to these GPAA sites do you have to get your own permits for whatever piece of equipment that you are using or they covered by whoever owns the claim Also do you have to pay anything to the owner of the claim I have a Sluice, and a Highbanker/Suction dredge I want to use.. thanks

New to Prospecting- Oregon 2515 9
Started by robertdmcgee@gmail.com
I have been going through the prospecting forums for claims in the State of Oregon. By what I have read, there aren't too many and finding very little color to make it worth while. My main concern is the accessibility of the GPAA claims in my State. 2WD vehicle as well, so that has to be taken into consideration as to where I can go. I have panned in SD in the area of Deadwood back in August, spoke to BLM there where I can pan and I had a lot of fun. 2.73g isn't too bad for a first timer. I...

Vulture Bait area 1175 0
Started by bradboyce5@gmail.com
Hello Everyone I am proudly a greenhorn. I am heading up to the Vulture Bait (AZ) claim this weekend on my first prospecting trip tomorrow. I built a small recirculating Highbanker (about the same size as the Keene Mini Max) I know it is short notice , but I am just looking for a any advice on where I should focus on the claim or any other claim in the area. I have pretty low expectations on finding much gold, I just want to know if the Highbanker I built will work . I had some pay di...

Your Best Bet 2917 14

Good day all. Yes I am a greenhorn and not afraid to admit it. I have looked forward for a long time to put my first bit of dirt in a gold pan. I have been a member for many years and have never been prospecting one single time in my life. I believed in what the GPAA stood for and for what they were doing for their members. I have dreamed of going to the Alaska Gold Camp but I understand it is not operating any longer as a community camp. I just became a lifetime member and want to plan my first...

Just joined last month. I want to buy a dry washer. I just prospect myself, and most of the areas I go to I can drive my truck to. I was looking at the Royal explorer dry washer ab/vac package. Hey all, been pannin for the last year mostly in the Molalla river area which has been good to cut my teeth on , but I’d really like to branch out. I’d really like to check out the Quartzville area this weekend provided it has reopened since the fires Molalla River has limited access since. I’m not gonna lie, I am a little overwhelmed trying to learn the basics of being a Gpaa greenhorn, and have yet to hit a claim. If anyone out there is willing to learn an aspiring prospector I would truly be...

Who's ready to get out and find some treasure/gold 2300 8
Started by aztreasurehunter@outlook.com
If anyone is interested in meeting up to go do some treasure hunting or gold mining/panning please let me know. I am new to the hobby and enjoying every moment. That said i have my own equipment so I am ready to go. I prefer to prospect and explore with a group. It gets kind of sketchy being in the desert by yourself.

highbanker water flow 12293 12
Started by raklineplumbing
I purchased a 36'alluvial highbanker I extended the top 12' and added extra rib matting and 1/8 punch plate , also added more water flow at top much like a gold hog has, using a 30 gpm sump pump run off a Honda eu1000 generator, I have great flow and been tuning on it.. my question is what are your go to ways of setting sluice pitch, 1' per foot, finger in sluice, was told to use a small stone, love to hear some ideas. thanks
