Hello everyone. Newbie that knows nothing here. Im James “jamie” Kirksey, joined up a couple of mths ago & very excited to be a member and hopefully make some new friends enjoying a such an awesome hobby/passion. Wilderness areas in CA - Red Cloud claim 2709 8

Prospecting 1st time near the Red Cloud claim in CA and have seen lots of signs that limit access to the wilderness designated areas. Anyone know the rules concerning prospecting these areas This only effects a small portion of the 160ac claim. Only made one trip out there. Mostly just locating the claim and dig sites. Did some metal detecting for about 2 hours. Wasn't in the right area for that. Did go off claim and explored the original mine quite a bit. BLM has limited some areas. Ma...

While driving around in the AZ desert last week I found a dry wash that had black sand streaks visible from the truck. At night! I had no gold mining equipment since I was there for agates. Used my hands to gather a about half a gallon of the stuff, but there is just too much black sand for my skill level of panning. I see mica and probably chalcopyrite flakes in the pan that I thought was gold at first. The wash empties into a running stream that is known to have placer gold about 4 miles from ...

Hello, I noticed that people are saying 'Couldn’t find a claim marker but gps confirmed. Whole area appears to be claimed.' What dose this mean I just want to make I am allowed to do some detecting and panning on LUCKY BUCK claim. I am looking into getting out to the desert to do some prospecting. Still pretty new to the hobby. I was wondering what others think or recommend...... I am looking into getting a power sluice and setup a water recirculating system when I go out to the desert. Taking water with me isnt an issue. I was looking at doing this setup because it is a bit cheaper to get and yes i know its more work to setup. A dry washer is a bit more expensive and less setup time to it. I was wondering...

I have been going through the prospecting forums for claims in the State of Oregon. By what I have read, there aren't too many and finding very little color to make it worth while. My main concern is the accessibility of the GPAA claims in my State. 2WD vehicle as well, so that has to be taken into consideration as to where I can go.
