Do not throw out your cons, pack them out for further processing 6563 7
Started by crashcrain@gmail.com
I have been telling people for years they are throwing out their gold by panning the cons out in the river. The pan is the first process, the secondary may be a miller table, and the third might be a retort. I went down to my claim where I let another man dredge, but I instructed him to pan in a large tub and keep what he got. He relied on one of those gold wheel devices so all his cons were left in the tub, perfect for me. I got the cons out and processed them my own way and pulled out ...

Rattlesnake Bitten Again 4737 4
Started by crashcrain@gmail.com
I was on the way out of my claim and the area I was snake bitten earlier this year my mining partner walking a few feet behind me yelled Rattlesnake, and he almost stepped on it because it was crossing the road and I had just walked over it. Having been bitten earlier this year I bought snake gators to prevent it from happening again. Sure enough we get to the truck and there were two sets of puncture marks in my Right gator and I never heard or saw it until he pointed it out. Sure enoug...

Gold & Treasure Show in Ohio 3559 10
Started by bsciore25@gmail.com
As a new member of the GPAA and someone who lives in an area not known for gold but has a desire to learn how to correctly and successfully prospect for gold, I am attending the 2018 Ohio Gold and Treasure show. I'm not sure what to expect since I've never been to one. How would my time best be used being a newbie

Greetings from the Phoenix, AZ area! 8650 8
Started by pilguybrandon@yahoo.com
Hello everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well. I am brand new and decided to buy a membership on a whim because I have always had a interest in gold and panning for it. Also, living in the southwest with mining very common in the area has always peaked my adventure side. Needless to say I am excited to get out and start learning and finding gold. I don't have high expectations and my job allows me 35 days where I don't have to work when I am in the State so I plan on being as acti...

gold rush expeditions 4514 8
Started by Kenaslan@earthlink.net
So for the fun of it, I was looking at purchasing a claim. Found claim from gold rush expeditions. How can they set a price on a claim without any studies No geo report no assay no pictures of the inside. Has not been worked in decades. They say a couple of guys could dig it out in a day or two. It would take an excavator a day. Also no exact location is given or ID number. What gives. They sound like snake oil salesmen.

Gold Hog Multi Sluice 11958 12
Started by tpleibel@gmail.com
After working with one of the new Gold Hog Multi Sluices at Loud mine for a few days I was terribly impressed. AS I watched the old timers

Now my question is , it does not come with a bilge pump and the one Gold hog offers they say is not really the best model on the market. Anyone have a bran...

old abandoned claims 1706 1
Started by Kenaslan@earthlink.net
I thought I read somewhere that a claim to be kept active, the claim owner must have intent on mining it and do so yearly. What about all the claims that have been sitting without any work for decades. Are they still valid as long as the payments are made every year, or does the fact that there is no intention of ever working them make the claim invalid

I have noticed how most people seem to have purchased 5 gallon buckets from their nearby big box store. However your local grocery store bakery department will give you buckets for free. There are the buckets that the frosting comes in. The handles are nice and comfortable too.

Prospecting near Yellowstone park. 7750 13
Started by Kenaslan@earthlink.net
Last weekend I went up to Cooke City to do some prospecting. Went into town for lunch and was told it was made illegal to do any prospecting in the NF for several miles outside of Yellowstone park and couldn't go to the GPAA claim there. I have sence found out that the locals don't like protecting because of the government's allowance to that Canadian company to prospect there and will not tell the truth.
Nevertheless I will be there again Saturday. Has anyone prospect...
