1 Replies and 1705 Views New member question  1705  1 Started by  jheard82@icloud.com Hi, I am a new member anxiously looking forward to receiving my membership kit and getting involved. I’m new to prospecting other than running a few pans back in middle school. My family and I have been to a pay to play place here in GA and found some gold there. We were all excited at our first find. My son is looking forward to getting out into a creek again. I was curious if I had to wait to receive my kit before we visit a claim, or if having my membership number is enough

13 Replies and 6456 Views New Member Question  6456  13 Started by  dlenfers@hotmail.com   Greetings.     I am trying to get as much information as I can collect on where to head off to when I start prospecting this spring.  I am a older retired person, single and my family is raised and off doing their life.  I am tired of sitting around the house growing older even faster and I always wanted to give more or less full time prospecting a go.  I built a mini RV, one ton Van customized with its own sleeping, storage and chemical camping toilet.  ...

3 Replies and 2377 Views Cabin Fever  2377  3 Started by  aesplin1@gmail.com New to the forum, but it's the time of year I started thinking about panning more and more so  I thought would share some pics from my best day panning last year.  I'm pretty new to prospecting so I joined GPAA up here in Fairbanks, AK last year, and I was hoping to make it to the claim up in Circle, AK last summer.  That didn't happen so I just stuck to mining around Fairbanks and I had some pretty decent days with just my pan.  These two pics were from my best single day. I...

13 Replies and 6345 Views What scale do you like and why  6345  13 Started by  civilian_again@yahoo.com I am going to buy a scale and with so many out there, I was wondering what others might suggest and why. I am looking for the pro's and con's of your model. Of coarse, like everybody else in the world, price is a consideration. I would like it to be portable and the style that opens so the screen and scale are protected. I guess like a pocket scale.  .o1 gram accuracy is a must. Thanks!

5 Replies and 7124 Views Alabama national forest question  7124  5 Started by  car469999@gmail.com Hello everyone, From what I have read panning is permitted in the Talladega National Forest, but prospectors cannot use a dredge, highbanker, or a sluice. So my question is, what if you own property that is located in the National forest. Does anyone know if a property owner of land inside Talladega National Forest can use a dredge, highbanker, or a sluice on that property Thanks for any info on this.
