Hello everyone. New to prospecting for gold and gems. Finding tons of quartz and weird rocks or minerals. If anyone has info on alabama or the talladega national forest that would be great. Tons of black sand but no gold or it was too small to see. Magnatine in big chunks. What to do with it Any info would help thanks.

Crevicing in low producing areas? 6431 6
Started by odokevin@gmail.com
hey everyone, I have a nearby spot that i like to pan, although with my inexperience I get excited for a small flake in about every other pan. there isn't a lot of gold in this brook to begin with, JUST enough to keep me coming back, trying to build and hone my skills. there is a lot of decomposing ledge, leaving many sharp ridges a couple inches deep. if I'm not finding much behind the big rocks, would it be worth it to open up a handful of the bigger crevices I know experience comes wi...

Fine Gold Processing 2886 0
Started by kevin@gillas.com
Do you have an recommendations for spiral separators that is designed for gold and black sand mix The blue bowl looks too temperamental.
I was going back through my black sand that I panned and finding as much gold as I got when I panned it. The miller table is just going too slow for the amount of black sand that I have to process. I'm assuming from what I read this is the best way to process the material unless I want to go to a shaker table

Something not to do! 5978 3

If you are a diabetic I cannot stress enough how important it is that you care for your feet. Recently my mining partner forgot his water boots and just used his regular shoes and continued to wear them, needless to say he developed Trench Foot or Jungle Rot, us Veterans know what that means. So when he first showed it to me I was in shock of how bad it was and spent over an hour pulling out sock debris, gravel, dirt, etc.... I got it cleaned and soaked it in betadine and started checkin...

New To GPAA 4203 4
Started by swiftmachine@gmail.com
Hey guys,
I am new to GPAA and new to prospecting. 3 Years ago a couple friends of mine and I went to Red River. We had a guide by the name of Jerry that took us to a spot and I was able to pan, while they dredged. I got to pan and found some flour gold on my first try. It was great. I enjoyed the panning while they dredged. I have been to one GPAA Gold Show since and I have been hooked to panning since. I moved farther away from any Gold Claims a...

Good morning fellow GPAA members! I'm looking for information about a reasonably simple and inexpensive online course in basic geology and/or mining, just to improve my knowledge on rocks, minerals, and how to find and/or identify them etc. As a greenhorn i figure the more i can learn, the more successful I'll be. Any recommendations / Ideas Thank you. Randy Lawson

Fine gold in creek question 8453 11
Started by Sal@historyhunts.com
I have located a patch of creek with lots of very fine gold and a few pieces big enough for tweezers - still tiny. This shows as much as 20 colors in a pan of 1/2 inch classified material. I've only dug in the surface gravels - say surface to 2 feet - with gold being found on surface on down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as to where larger gold might be. My thoughts are possibly upstream or deeper but I am relatively new at this. Thanks

Gold Bug II vs Gold Bug II Pro 14752 20
Started by Jputke@hotmail.com
Hi Everyone, I am new to GPAA and prospecting. I am thinking of getting a metal detector. I met a guy who has a Gold Bug II Pro. He likes it, although he said he has never found any nuggets with it yet. He said if I bought one he could show me how to use it. I've been reading as much as I can on detectors and reading forums. From what I've seen and read on forums, people seem to say better things about the Gold Bug II than the Gold Bug II Pro. Any advice for me before I buy Which one will...
