New Forum - what are those dots 8942 8
Started by ed@braggfamily.com
I couldn't find a forum to post, so I'll post here in hopes of everybody being able to see it and it may be beneficial to new members.
1. What are those dots below a users name (1-6 dots, yellow or green) What do they mean
2. Why is there no 'General Discussions' forum for general Gold Prospecting or GPAA / LDMA discussions that don't fit into other forum categories
3. Everybody knows that the GPAA forums are very user UNFRIENDLY and sluggish and most likely the cause for lack ...

Dissolving Ore? 31177 6
Started by crashcrain@gmail.com
So I have some medium grade ore, real hard rock stuff, not the soft stuff you get in Georgia or the Carolina's. I by hand pulverized these rocks down and then placed the sands into Muriatic acid thinking it would dissolve most of it down. I placed it in fresh acid 3 separate times over a month. Once I panned the remaining tailings I had a mixture of gold and pyrite, about 1/3 gold and 2/3rds pyrite, but now I am stuck.
What is the best way to separate the two
Do I swit...

when to do a clean out using gold hog piglet 8503 7
Started by mrs.whaley2010@hotmail.com
Headed to Thermal City NC this Saturday. Going to be running the piglet with the extension. We are going to run roughly from 9am-4pm. I am not sure what other specs I need to list to give a better idea of when I should clean out... equipment...etc... We are going to run 1 1/2' hose. Roughly 9 pitch on piglet and 5 pitch on extension. What are some suggestions on when/how many times to do a clean out. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated. We are still in the learning process. WISH US LUC...

I have read blogs about a Lake Creek property near the Douglas Creek claim Wyoming. I do not see this claim in the mining guide. Is there such a claim for GPAA members still in existence.

Tips’ for Gold Panning and Prospecting in Wyoming 12019 3
Started by Timmelko@hotmail.com
I contracted gold fever recently while on Vacation this July in Cheyenne Wyoming for Frontier Days. I stopped by a little store called Diggin’ It in Cheyenne where I purchased a basic panning starter kit and a bag of pay pay-dirt to try my luck. The guy was super nice and even tried to talk me out of buying a shovel from him that he mentioned I could get cheaper at Home Depot. I did find several little bits of gold totaling .315 Grams. It was enough to get me hooked!

Started by glhewitt1@yahoo.com
OK, New guy here, but it seems that there must be online GPAA claims listings somewhere and I am not finding that link on the website. So, as a new guy, I think I can ask that question, where are the current GPAA claims listings online If there are none online, where does the new guy go for the most updated GPAA claim listings Thank You in advance.

Hey guys,
I just joined the forums and got a membership (Cant wait to head out to the claims.). I am 15 and live in Albuquerque New Mexico. I have been gold prospecting for a year now ( Gees time fly's). I have a mini high banker with sluice extension and a hand trommel. I have not found much gold but we have a little bit. With out a dry-washer its hard to get a lot of gold in NM. Just wanted to say high.

It's dissappointing seeing so many members who have had sincere questions or made genuine offers of friendship to share their passion for Gold Prospecting to only go unanswered. We have more than 33,000 members registered here and yet such a low level of interaction and activity... It's sad! Anyways... I am pretty good at this kind of thing but very limited in knowledge. My experience is in metal detecting and mostly relic shooting up to this point. I am just now getting into Gold and nugget sho...

Fine gold recovery? 27301 54
Started by Jamesmcgrew@rocketmail.com
So I'm running into a issue of not being able to get the fines out of my concentrates.( I've been saving all concentrates). Quick google search I find a ton of gadgets and watzitdo's at various places, and of them worth it I saw some YouTube vids of a bearded fella classifying down the material a bunch of times then panning. Is that a better route Any insight would be helpful James

Frustrated NOOB 15126 16
Started by byfert@yahoo.com
OK I'm frustrating myself. At the moment I can only classify down to 30. When I'm panning I am seeing what I think is flour gold flowing out of my pan. I am using a Garret riffle pan. I get my concentrates very wet and swirl it around and when I look in the pan I see gold on top of the rest of the cons. When I'm panning I can watch the flakes move up the riffles and the rest of the cons stay in the pan. Could it be that what I'm seeing is mica It sure looks shiny yellow to me.
I guess I...

Best Dry sluicing process? 6691 6

I an truly a greenhorn when it comes to prospecting. I live in AZ and have just joined GPAA. I am curious about dry prospecting since the water sources are very spread out, to say the least, in AZ.
I am curious about prospecting on day trips, hiking trips. I am not looking to carry a number of water jugs through the desert to try and run a recirculating sluice. The majority of the trips I want to go on appear to have a few miles of hiking to do so I would prefer ...
