Mary Ann claim in South Dakota 6104 4
Started by gkuhl@huntel.net
Went up to the Black Hills over the weekend. Just wondering if we were in the right place. Does the Mary Ann claim have a bike trail going through it with a place that looks like a drop off/pick up place for bikers or just to park and look around It also had some buildings on it from an old town. And a restroom. We didn't do any panning because we didn't know if we were in the right place. I hope we were looks like a nice place. Looked for markers but couldn't find any.

We're heading down to Texas for vacation. Taking 35 down from Wisconsin. Are there any Gpaa claims that would within reason (mileage wise) to check out on the way down. The only thing I saw is a 'pay to dig' site in Oklahoma. Any new or omitted claims not in a the book

This article gives a great understanding of how most likely many gold deposits formed in the years past. The process is still going on.

GPAA claim 6902 5
Started by dino@gcrwyo.com
There is a gpaa claim near where I live. I have read the forest service regulations. The regs state that within the entire forest, the season starts July 1st due to fish spawning. Without contacting the forest service I am curious whether I have rights to metal detect and use a recirculating mini highbanker. The regulations are very vague and shorten my season. Just seems like another government nipple telling me what to do when, where, and how. If you have experience with what is acceptab...

LR2000 Website....Down?? 5973 10
Started by jlocke1970@att.net
Hello,
Is anyone else having problems with the BLM 'LR2000' website
For the past several days I have tried to access through the link on the BLM site, as I have in the past. This takes me to the web address for LR2000 but it does not load. After some time of trying to load I end up with a message that the site is unavailable (or something like that). I am also having problems with GeoCommunicator via the BLM site.
I was wondering if this has been an issue for anyone else. Or maybe it is some...

2015 LDMA Burnt River outing 4661 1
Started by tpleibel@gmail.com
Hey all, if you have not been to one of the LDMA outings you should try and go to this one. Jim and Pam stayed put through the fire and fed the firefighters and protected that beautiful camp just so all of us could enjoy it. If you live on the west coast call the main office and see if you can get in to this outing. It sure sounds like it will be a whole lot of fun and plenty of gold to be found. Only 75 people registered as I am writing this.
I am telling you, especially gre...

Forest Fires and gold 3098 2
Started by worldavi@gate.net
I was thinking of the probability of gold nuggets forming over the years of successive forest fires in a particular mineral rich surface environment. The mixture of carbon and the heat from the fire, possibly causing smaller micron particles to melt and enjoin with other localized particles. Or the fires causing resident nuggets to reshape via melting. Years and years of this process seems like it could have an effect or at least cause invisible gold to be leached/or change state.

First Trip for My First Nugget! 8165 9
Started by joebiggidybob@yahoo.com
Hi all, just got back from the Yuba river above Downieville ca, from my first trip sluicing and panning. Went up with my 2 boys and fellow GPAA member Rivers La Barge and his family to a friends claim on the yuba. We had a blast playing in the river washing rocks, with 4 boys under 5 and 3 dogs there was a lot going on but, we managed plenty of time prospecting. One night we got woken up to lightning right above are head booming and cracking down the canyon. I spent the first 2 days digging a 55...

My husband and I are going to the Black Hills in a few weeks. We would like to try some panning. Would like to know if the waters are all open for panning in the hills (except the ones that have a claim on them, I don't want to claim jump) Would also like to know if we can pan on an abandoned claim or mine. Any help is appreciated. I know that the GPAA has some claims, but I don't think we're going that far up. Thanks for your help. 8/9/2015 ...

Good morning all. I have seen the process for staking a claim. However, the big question is: How do you find an area in say Arizona that is under BLM control that has no claim on it without traipsing all over the country checking for markers
Thanks and happy prospecting.
