Fairbanks AK dredge trip 4822 0
Started by cowboybrj81@gmail.com
I am finally going to get to do some Alaska dredging this summer and am looking for anyone who can give me advice or even take a few days off and wash some dirt with me in Jun. I have a 2' suction dredge (I have never used it but it is brand new, hence the need for help) and will be looking for a trip from the 17th to 19th of Jun. Any help/advice or hot spots to hit (I plan on going to the GPAA claim near Circle) would be greatly appreciated.
Ben J.

East Fork San Gabriel River 4065 0
Started by kevinryan@netzero.net
Ok I was just on facebook and came across this person comments. This person in the past has shown disrespect for prospectors and is always stating it is illegal to prospect on the east fork. the link is https://www.facebook.com/CrystalLakeCA if you would like to commet if you also read the other coments you see other people are complaining that we as prospectors are destroying the area and leaving trash all the way up to the bridge to nowhere. I have not meet this person face to face but f...

Gold Miner Spiral Gold Panning Machine 15305 16
Started by dmcelyea@gmail.com
I have been admiring one of these and the cost is not too bad but was wondering if it would fit the bill and do the job after classification of the material. It is highly portable but would have to provide water in a dry area. I have seen videos of this in operation but will it get the fine gold

Newby in CA - Permits? 2862 2
Started by cmow2006@yahoo.com
Howdy,
I signed my son and I up with GPAA mainly because he has some interest in doing some gold panning. I think it would be fun and a great opportunity to do something together and get him away from the stinking computer and video games!
One question I have is, in California do you need some kind of permit to just go out and do some panning/prospecting
Thanks

Newbie Finds First Nugget With Dry Washer in AZ! 12512 14
Started by Chipbrault@gmail.com
Hi guys!
I love that I joined GPAA a month or so ago and have really been hitting it hard! I have learned a ton in a short time! I have been breaking my back and moving lots of dirt, only to find out many things I have been doing was wrong and losing lots of gold most likely. This time, thanks to the good folks at A&B Prospecting (No affiliation) in Mesa and Prescott AZ, I have it all correct. And found my first nugget in my Gold Duster Dry Washer today! Not to mention, good clean o...

The Nugget Email 4856 2
Started by dmcelyea@gmail.com
Received an email The Nugget but can't find anything on the site related to it. On mention in The Nugget was marked as new which referenced prospector picks. Can't seem to find anything in the email on that item. I did just purchase a Calvin Bunks Hermit Pick. Anxiously waiting on that new pick.

Garrett Product Complaint 7299 9
Started by crashcrain@gmail.com
Recently I purchased two Garrett products I could care not to use again. First was a small aluminum sluice box with slits cut into the aluminum instead of real riffles and miners moss underneath. It would fill the small slots with fine gravels almost instantly and everything else would wash out of the sluice. The other complaint is about the Garrett Gold Guzzler snuffer bottle. Instead of coming to a cone like most it has a top sided inside lip which traps fine gold making it impossible for you ...

Recommendations for equipment retailers in So. California? 8512 5
Started by jlocke1970@att.net
I am looking for equipment retailers in the Southern California area, specifically the Riverside, San Bernardino areas.
I really cannot recall ever seeing any around. General prospecting and/or metal detector sales.
Figured I'd throw the question out there and see if anyone had any ideas.
Thanks everyone!

clean up claims please 7259 7
Started by atedoe@hotmail.com
New member and fresh prospector, I was excited to go out to the nancy claim and find some color. Got there to find a lot of garbage. I mean trash! I found some fines and flake but was very disappointed to see the state of this claim. I will be bringing an extra garbage bag out next time and ask anybody visiting this claim to do the same. The place was awesome and will be back again. Thank you to everybody that keep these claims available for us to use.

Newb Questions 5280 2
Started by predden@ptd.net
I was wondering. I want to go to Vein Mt. outing in June. I realize that you have to work a 4 hour shift daily, but when youre not, are you allowed to pan or sluice on your own Can you draw the dirt from the provided paydirt or do you have to find your own It would seem that panning in the river would be pretty well picked over by now. Thanks Guys.

So I guess we're Newbies, but kinda not... We first joined back in 2003-2004 timeframe and later joined the LDMA, attending many outings and digs in Oregon and California and doing o...
