Angeles Nat. Forest East Fork status 4617 1

I'm a newbie members and I have recently learned about this 'Antiquities Act 1906' that was recently signed last month. I'm getting mixed messages about still being able to dig until the end of the year at East Fork in Angeles National forest if so, I'm ready would anybody please provide me with any insight as to where to look newbie member out of the Brea chapter, will be exploring within the next day or two. Members welcome to tag along.

Just joined and have been looking thru the claim guide. When I put GPS numbers into google earth it puts the claim on the east side of the wash the claim guide shows it on the west side. Am I doing something wrong Please help with any info I don't want to prospect where I should not be. I plan on using a recirculating sluice any tips or specifics to look for before I start digging or how to pick a spot. Thank in advance hope to see some of you fellow members out there. Tim

I've also been thinking very much about buying a spiral wheel to clean some of it up as well as use the heck out of it in the future. Ok, So yesterday was my official breaking of ground in search of the good stuff. That's as greenhorn as it gets right. I went on a GPAA claim in San Bernardino Mts.(Yes I'm a member) I went there the week before but couldn't find the claim. This time I went straight to it. Hi everyone,
Got a question about gps coordinates.
The mining guide shows lat/long format with seconds. My garmin 62sc handheld only inputs with minutes. SO, my question is if I have say,, (and this is a fake coordinate btw) 100 12' 34.567' N Could I input it as 100 12.34567' N and get the same result If not, I need to find out how to format my garmin to show what the book has for coordinates. Hey all,
My name is Dan. I've been in the GPAA for a few years, but I am a new member to LDMA. I'm taking my mom with me this week to Italian bar from Los Angeles. We're renting an RV and driving up on Wednesday.
For us 'green horns' can any of you 'old timers' suggest items we should bring that only years of experience can give My mom is a little worried that we won't have some essential items () once we get there.

If I needed to take 15-20 minutes to gather more material, is it better to shut down or let it run. My concern is that the surge of shutting down would blow out material. I just read an issue of Gold Prospectors magazine using the new Online Publications feature. When I got used to the way to navigate and size the pages, I soon got the hang of it. I like it a lot. I do receive the magazine and will continue to do so for when I might want to review an article in the field where I might not have access to the internet. But, using the new feature was nice too. Bought a new blower today from Lowe's. It's a Paulson 200mph Leaf blower. I do not believe it has a way to set the throttle to a steady setting while shoveling in the dirt. Does anybody have experience with this and some advice for a rookie
