I will be in Quartzsite in January 2019 and maybe mid December 2018. Would like to meet up with someone familiar with claims in the area.

We just finished scouting all the nav. Points of flat foot and all the markers have been removed by someone. (GPAA has been notified) it's on Dome Rock west. East of The jumping jack claim north side of the road. We are camping next to Dome Rock Mt. Till after the show. I have subscribed to thes post so Reply here if you would like to meet and see flat foot boundaries. We will be braking ground this week.

Hey there Brenda, was trying to decide whether to go to Quartzsite, AZ or Barstow, CA areas either tmw the 23rd or the day after and then plan to stay a couple days. Do you expect to still be out at Flat foot? Great to hear you've done some scouting work and made the report to leadership. Recently did a trip to the claim south of Dallas, TX and threw some info up on the website. It's quite a bit of work to figure everything out! I've got one of the large Royal drywashers, a Gold Hog multi sluice, and the normal hand tools. However, I do only have a 2x4 truck and a tent. I saw in my weather app it looked like Quartzsite got a bit of rain a few days ago, do you think its drywashable atm? Hope to see you there, heavy pans!

We will be here at Dome Rock Mt. Next To FlatFoot till Saturday January 25,2020 . FlatFoot is accessable will a small 2wd truck or car, just don't drive it threw the wash, it gets a bit soft. ( I would advise against a 2wd dully.) the camping is BLM and the 14 day camping permit is free (see BLM camp host) near claim ( Big wooden sign). Saturday is day 15 for us than it's off to the LDMA Stanton claim.

Awesome, thanks for the reply! I'm planning on heading out there tmw, about a 3.5hr drive from Vegas I think. Hopefully I'll get out there late morning so I can get going quick. Btw, have you been drywashing? I'm curious if I'll be able to hit the ground running w/ the drywasher or if I'll need to dry out the material. Thanks again, hope to see you there!

Ground is dry, only a few drops fell and I thank only on my truck just to make it look filthy 🤪. We been running the Garrett's and planning the equipment for Next time. Probably going to do Rock crushing next visit. Others have been dry washing (Luck unknown) and running recirculating rigs (gold found). Water can be gotten at (RV pit stop) for 100gal /per.$5 or 1gal /per.25¢ .. and dry washer part's at Miner's Depot. We have had no luck with the detecting, probably going to fast or setting not right for the area.

Good to hear its dry. I plan to return the first or second week in February with hopes to do better than November. I found some small trash, which is good as I am trying to learn my new Gold Kruzer. A friend found a picker with a Minelab Gold Monster 1000. Appears the GM1000 is excellent for Quartzsite. Good Luck!

If you visit LTVA La Posa South and pay for the two week stay ($40) or full season ($180), you can fill unlimited water for 'free' ;-) According to how much you need total it might be cheaper.

Blake at the Miner's Depot is very helpful with new and used items. I purchased a complete used Desert Fox Spiral Panning machine with the original instructions for a fair price.

I've been in the area for a couple of months, and no luck detecting. Of course I only have a Garrett 250 ACE and a Garrett Pinpointer. Sometime in the future I will invest in the Falcon MD 20 pinpointer. I recently used a friends with much success.

    Heavy pans for you.

In wet areas I use an ACE 250 to find black sand then look for gold. In the desert the ACE 250 may not detect anything except larger surface gold but it is a very versatile detector, a real good coin shooter. Do not ever sell or give it away. I moved up to a Nokta Makro Gold Kruzer for desert gold detecting but I still keep my ACE 250 close by. I plan to hunt at one of the Quartzsite during the Gold Show.

I ended up making it out finally on the 29th and 30th after a bunch of delays. I was expecting to dry wash before heading out but gold fever got the better of me and I ended up buying a Gold Monster 1000 that I've been looking at for a while from Blake at the Miner's Depot. He gave me a heck of a deal with it since they have a promotion for an extra battery, gave me access to his local claims, and threw in a couple other small items to help me out for free. He was at my first gold experience at the Stanton Group Dig back in October so I decided to give him the business while I was there, glad I did! I spent 10 hrs day 1 and 8 hrs day 2 non stop metal detecting until I finally wore myself out and headed back at sundown. What I learned out there is the ground wasn't overly hot and I was able to easily run on Auto 1 and probably could've done the highest manual setting as Blake recommended if it wasn't my first time. There are 3 or 4 types of rocks that will set off the detector but after a few hours I was used to them and could easily ID them and kick them out of the way. I found a ton of rusted trash inside the large washes to the point where I couldn't handle it and moved out. Once I started detecting feeder washes or the banks of the large washes I started finding lead ranging from itty bitty BBs to large slugs. While I was there I met a guy who had a buddy come along for his first gold detecting hunt (experienced relic hunter) and was using the GPX 5000 or 7000 who found 3 nuggets ranging around 1gram each. Supposedly they were only a few inches into the ground so likely most of us could have found them. Anyways, good luck to everyone and thanks for all the updates on the thread. The ground was relatively dry, probably top 6 inches or so and then just a little damp below that. I did see people drying the ground but it definitely wasn't nearly as bad as I've become accustomed to seeing over the last few months.

With the ACE 250 I've only achieved hot rocks and 22 casings :) I like it for after the fair or carnival at the city parks. It does find lost change.
