Power Sluicing 4382 0
Started by phillips2316@gmail.com
How many GPH does it take to properly run the Keene header box and the A52 Sluice I have set up a recirculating power sluice and I would like to know what size pump I should use I know 2000gph isn't enough and a 1.5 hp is too much... I am thinking 3000, but I only want to buy it once and I want it to run on my little generator. I have found a 1/3 hp 3000 gph dirty sump pump that I think is perfect it'll run on my generator for sure but will it push enough water What do yall think

How I approach a creek. 10506 11
Started by matt@rtmdesigns.com
I approach a creek like this:
Say I start in an area that I've confirmed gold, even just a speck or two...
I pick a spot as a central area and move out in a small radius from that point and down repeating the process till I have a large diameter hole a foot or two or three feet deep or more.
I examine the material as best as possible in each layer and removing all large rock/slabs that I run into. Then scoop the loose material and sluice.
I see where I am digging and h...

Hey GPAA Gold Prospectors...
I had the opportunity to guide a gold prospecting adventure for a family visiting the U.S. from Sweden yesterday.
Mats and his family were in the U.S. two years ago on another 2-week visit, but this time wanted to focus on the intermountain region of Utah and Colorado. Well, July in High Colorado is a perfect time to see the 14ers, hike, camp and yes.....gold prospect!
I coordinated with Mats several months back to lead a prospecti...

Sluice box tip 6879 1
Started by rockkingron@gmail.com
Those who run a sluice box in a creek or stream will find this tip very helpful. Ever notice how heavy and awkward it is to lift a sluice box full of cons out of the water Do you ever wonder how much gold blew out the back end when you started to lift the box out of the water and you saw everything start boiling backwards Take a piece of wood that is 1/2 inch thick and cut it to fit the inside square part of the box at the very top end. Drill a 1/8 inch hole at t...

Hey GPAA Prospectors...
Yep, another Trip Report on Cache Creek.....in 'High' Colorado. I hit the creek with my friend Ron who drove up early out of C. Springs to spend the day with me washing some 'dirt'.
We met at the BLM placering area parking lot about 7:15 AM, loaded up and hiked over to a spot we worked together last year. I was surprised to see how many prospectors were already up at Cache Creek camping, prospecting, as many of the camping sites were full of trailers,...

I took a few hours to run up to Cache Creek, CO, just West of Granite, CO, on Forest Road 398 and check things out. Hadn't been up there since last Fall and wanted to see if there was any snow still on the ground, how the creek was flowing, etc.
Well, got to the Granite Cemetery on FR 398D off FR 398 and not a soul in sight in the entire valley at about 10 AM. A few violet-green swallows flying overhead and a LOT of snow still up on the tops of Huron Pe...

Im curious if anyone has tried using the hopper apperatus of their drywasher to classify material while sluicing. I am sure it would work pretty well on the river bank to fill buckets of classified material quickly (A bucket fits perfectly under mine), but I am curious if anyone has used this with wet material from a river Does it get stuck inside the box I was thinking of maybe putting the drywashing hopper in the river itself, weighting the legs down with rocks and settin...
