I'm wanting to clean out stock tanks or ponds using my dredge 4145 1
Started by tomhardee1963@yahoo.com
Hello everybody, I'd like some opinions on using my pumps and hoses from my dredge to clean out the sand and sediment from my father-in-laws stock tanks on his ranch. I have two of the p180 pumps and since the material I have to move is just sand and silt I was wondering if i might get better results if i use a combination of a power jet and a suction nozzle. I'd like to do this for him as he has to hire a guy to come in with an excavator every few years to clean out the sand and silt that washe...

Dredging in Indiana 5544 4
Started by sydneyruth@yahoo.com
Are there any public areas where you can use a dredge and/or sluice box Looking for directions, crossroads, landmarks, etc. We are not from the area so we don't have any idea where to start. Also, anyone know anything about prospecting in the Brown County State Park We've panned in Morgan Monroe, but don't want to haul all of our equipment (pumps and sluice) if we can't find anywhere to use it. Thanks all!

Fairbanks AK dredge trip 10808 1
Started by cowboybrj81@gmail.com
I am finally going to get to do some Alaska dredging this summer and am looking for anyone who can give me advice or even take a few days off and wash some dirt with me in Jun. I have a 2' suction dredge (I have never used it but it is brand new, hence the need for help) and will be looking for a trip from the 17th to 19th of Jun. Any help/advice or hot spots to hit (I plan on going to the GPAA claim near Circle) would be greatly appreciated.

Leveling the Keene 2 Gold Buddy Dredge 61305 12
Started by civilian_again@yahoo.com
I got to use my dredge for the first time this weekend. I noticed that the dredge leans to the intake hose side. I moved the motor over to help counter balance but still have to put a rock on the front corner for additional weight. I take it that this is normal due to the size of the pontoons. I only wish I had somebody around to tell me if I was running it right. The second day I ran the motor slower and kept cleaning the stones off of the classifier plate. I got away more cons the second day. ...

Length of Classifier plate 6945 11
Started by civilian_again@yahoo.com
I saw an article where a guy was going to extend the classifier plate all the way to the end of the dredge sluice. His concern was that rocks rolling down the sluice box would pull the gold out. My Keene 2' dredge has a plate that is angled up. The rocks tend to build up on it so I stop to clean it off. I was thinking of running a solid smooth piece the rest of the way down so rocks would not go across the riffles. What do you think does it matter

Need some advice. 3330 3
Started by chris@northpines.us
We've got a 3' dredge. We've noticed most discharge hoses from the nozzle to the sluice are around 25 feet or so.
Our discharge hose from the nozzle to the sluice is /- 40 feet. Is this too long We need to run the motor at a fairly high RPM to get enough suction.
The drawback seems to be we're pushing a lot of water through the sluice and are afraid we're blowing out the gold.
Thanks for any comments, good or bad --------------------------

I have used up to 6 Warn Blocks at a time, extra cable and choker cable to safely move large builders weighing several tons...

Keene A53 for 3 Dredge. 5230 1
Started by chris@northpines.us
We got a Keene A52 sluice for our 3' dredge. Having only run a Goldwell sluice we have no experience with this new one. We run the Goldwell at /- 5 degrees of slope and it works very well.
My question is, should we run the Keene at the same angle or is there another degree of slope /- that works better
We have a Keene P185 pump with a Honda GX200 motor. We run the motor at about 3/4 throttle and the suction seems to be fine.
Thanks for your learned input -----------------------...

inexpensive breathing system 53551 5
Started by richard.trantham@yahoo.com
Does anyone know an inexpensive setup for dredging so I can dive underwater to dredge. I have a small 2.5 inch dredge. My motor would not support a t-80. I can find them but the mean price seems to be 1,100-1,200 and I would like to get a setup for around half that. Any thoughts would be helpful thx!

3 lay flat for discharge 13812 1
Started by chris@northpines.us
We have been using a coiled (spiraled) PVC discharge hose on our 3' dredge. It seems to be developing a lot of leaks due to the rocks beating up the hose as they pass to the sluice. It's also really bulky.
Would a 3' heavy duty lay flat hose work better Would it be flexible and durable enough to handle the rocks and other stuff the dredge sucks up
One big advantage of a lay flat hose is It would certainly be easier to tote the the stream than the hose we are using now.
Thanks for any ...

3 dredge water 25034 11
Started by chris@northpines.us
We built a 3' dredge. We went with the Keene P185 pump and the Honda GX200 motor. This baby has lots of giddy up, The water velocity is tremendous, so much so it seems to be overwhelming our sluice. I'm afraid we are blowing gold out the end of the sluice and loosing it.
My question is; how do we tame the velocity of the water and still maintain suction at the nozzle We tried slowing down the motor but we lost significant suction.
Is this just something you have to fiddle wit...
