Prospecting equipment? 13949 9
Started by ompomelet@gmail.com
So, I have a pair of Garret pans, (14' and 10') Classifyers at 1/4', 1/8', 1/16' and a screen colander. I had a 1/2' one but I left it back in Texas. Might have to have sis' mail it to me. Also have a good heavy rock hammer/pick, a set of 3 heavy cold chisels, a set of 10 smaller masonry chisels and punches, a gold snuffer bottle, a few plastic pasture pipettes I scored from an essential oil seller (these are really nice for picking up the fine gold out of the pan and transferring it directly in...

Clays and dirty water 9649 1
Started by frankram72@yahoo.com
I have notice lots of people asking how do I get my water clear when panning out in my tub..Lots of people use Clay gone, but there are many other products out their your local pool supply store or Home Depot/Lowes. I have worked over a decade in mining industry as a washplant/Tipple operator. these products are environmentally safe to use at home or in a controlled area.
I'll try not to sound to nerdy or scientific on the process of what these chemicals do and a lot has to do with PH levels of...

what claim to visit out west from the mining guide ????????? 13689 9
Started by greenmm2k4@yahoo.com
Good afternoon all,
I am looking to take a trip to one of the claims in the mining guide the week of March 20th 2016, ( my first one )! My choices are AZ,CA,or OR. I would prefer a claim that will be semi warm that time of year. I just want to know if anyone had any info or knows wich claims have really good gold to pan and sluice. A claim that has fairly easy access to and is in a relativly safe area. Im planning a 4 day trip and plan on renting a jeep too.

Bubble level 13374 4
Started by roysleight@citlink.net
Anyone else done this I haven't seen any others. Makes the initial setup really quick and easy. With this sluice and the bubble centered, it shows that I have a 3 inch drop for the 36 inch sluice, then I can adjust from there.

Great Warranty Service, The Gold Miner Spiral Wheel 6833 1
Started by gbradlamb@hotmail.com
My Gold Miner Spiral Wheel developed an issue last Sunday while I was getting ready to use it to go through some tailings....the motor/gear ground and then stopped. I unplugged it and tried again. No Luck.
I gave Karen a call at Treasure and Gold Products in Hudsonville, MI (Manufacturers of the Gold Miner) and she said go ahead and send it back and we will fix it or replace and send it back to you.
I boxed it up the next day and sent it off.
It was back to me today and loo...

Getting Started (Metal Detecting) 17693 12
Started by nuggetshooter@outlook.com
GETTING STARTED
Getting started metal detecting for gold nuggets is as easy as buying a metal detector and hitting the gold fields right Well the answer to that one can be yes or no. There are many detectors on the market designed for different fields of the metal detecting hobby, although there are a large number of professionals that metal detect for a living. To them nugget hunting, treasure hunting, etc. is much more than a hobby this is a living and full time business to many miners!

Fine gold trick 15623 6
Started by frankn1937@hotmail.com
This is a little trick that I have used to pan fine gold. The surface tension of water has a tendency to make fine gold float.
To overcome this, add a couple of drops of dish washing soap liks Dial, etc. It breaks up the surface tension and the fine gold sinks and 'pans' properly. Frank...-

Frustrated 20464 21
Started by julia@mhleather.com
Hi, I need to vent and ask for help.
I'm in north Idaho, I belong to a local club with several claims, and this is my second summer prospecting. I research, I read everything I can get my hands on, I watch endless YouTube videos, I work hard and try to work smart when prospecting, but except for three small flakes I found my first day out last summer, I'm not finding anything. At all. Even in a creek where I know there's gold - I've seen it in others' pans - but it eludes me.
I am so frustrate...

I need help on what types of equipment to use 7980 2
Started by kyleclay@msn.com
I need help on trying to determine what kind of equipment I can use or convert to for 25 dump truck loads of sapphire ore I have access to. I would like to go through about 20 five gallon buckets per day. Any advice will be helpful. Just to give you an idea of what I have already done, I used a screen to wash the material about two coffee cups at a time and it took me two days to go through 3 five gallon buckets.

Carrying nuggets in the field 7948 8
Started by tpleibel@gmail.com
I am unfortunately Diabetic. My own fault and genes but I have to test my blood several times a day. The little containers that the test strips come in are plastic and have a seal that makes them air and water tight. I carry one on my pocket to put any nuggets or interesting gems etc. in. If you have friends that are diabetic, they will have lots of these laying around. If not come ask me on a claim, I always carry about 10 or so in my supplies to share.

Good morning folks. In the new Pick and Shovel is an article on the world's best panner's competition in Spain. I have looked high and low for the type of pan they are using. It seems almost impossible to pan 40 lbs of dirt in a little over a minute. Anyone got any info on these pans Thanks

Roaring Camp CA 7565 3
Started by riggersons@gmail.com
My brother and I will be spending 4 days at Roaring Camp in early September and will not be purchasing a pile of dirt. Anyone have any prospecting tips/suggestions that would help us maximize our chances of success there We'll have gold pans, a few crevacing and digging tools and an Angus M sluice. Traveling from Ohio, I'm just excited to have a real chance to find anything but specks and flakes!
