     Hi Everyone,

I am a noob! Signed up for the Vein Mt. outing in October. Have a few questions.#1 I bought a Keene sluice box,a set of 4 classifiers, buckets and shovels. What else will I need in my quest for gold? #2 At this claim, when you are on your own, are you digging gravel out of the river and sluicing it or are you taking dirt from the banks? Yes, Im new at this. Do you have to dig deep in the stream to get to bedrock?#3 I am bringing my travel trailer and was told that there are only a few full service sites. I realize that I wont have hookups but am I assured to have a place to park? Thanks for everyones help! Looking forward to trying the real thing instead of Ebay paydirt! LOL

Joe, I will be there also. The LDMA camps almost always have pike for sluicing laid out. You can dig in the creek but not the banks. There is a lot of room for trailers. I am going down the Friday before to prospect with my wife. There are several little streams also you can work in. When you get in, talk to Rodney, the caretaker, he will point you to where there are good places to dig.

Thanks for the help Tim. Seems everyone on this forum is good people. I cant be there that early as I am a lowly GPAA member and the LDMA members get first shot at the camper spots. I think they allow us in late in the day before the outing starts. Looking forward to meeting you and your wife.  Thanks, Joe

I have seen people bringing 4 wheelers to the outings. How much of an asset are they?

If you like to go back and forth they are great. Loud mine is a long claim, they are great there. By day 4 last year at Vein Mountain I was wishing I had mine.
