Hello, I am a total greenie to gold prospecting, I just started this year. I went out to the claim yesterday and metal detected around for most of the day and didn't find anything. I am curious as to what areas are good for setting up a Highbanker or sluice? All I found with the metal detector was a quarter from 1941 and a bunch of bullets and old cans. If there is anyone that wants to go out let me know I'd love to learn.

    Thanks

    Hey Derik,

Welcome to the world of gold prospecting.
I'm not familiar with D&M claim, no help there.
A 1941 quarter isint all bad, silver.

By listing the mining guide page number, and your general location, you may get a greater response from others.

Keep going out even if its by yourself, you learn more each time out.
    Join a chapter or two.

    Get out there.

Hey Derik.  I'm heading up there very soon, probably this week.  I can meet you there, just PM me.

I hit that claim once a few years ago, but I was ill-prepared. My 2016 plan is to prospect the heck out of that claim with my Super-Mini Bazooka in the pack.

    Hi folks,

I wanted to ask if it would be possible to add the State a claim is in when asking about or referencing a claim by name.
I think that would be nice for those of us that aren't familiar with all the claim names in each state. A claim referenced
in Wa. or Id. would interest me and I might want to go check it out.

So, where is the D&M claim?

thanks and have a great day.

    Derik,

Good times ahead for you.  You'll really enjoy the hobby.

I have two detectors that I use 4/5 times a summer and I've only found small change that

barely pays for the batteries but gives me riches in way of a good time.

    Vince

Been there many times. Claim is down stream, but better gold is found up stream on the inside bend sand bar. You have to move rocks to get at it. Also where you cross a dry creek on the way in has good gold too.
