Heading to the three adjacent claims in Tuolumne county next week. First time out, looking for any help or suggestions. Also would like to check out the Rough Night claim but concerned about the access. Thanks for any help.

improved access to Rough Knight was updated in one of the Pick and Shovels, if you do not have all of them they are available on this website. Go to learning and then publications, if magazines show up look for pick and shovel tab at bottom of screen. Access may still be challenging.

"improved access to Rough Knight" What did you do? Make the canyon smaller???? Just kidding, but it was a good little climb out of that canyon,,,, at least the way I went. Seriously, if you put the effort into getting to this one I think you will like it, it is a good one.

Oct / Nov 2014 page 4 Mining Guide updates section. You will notice that the road on the Eastern SE end of claim in less steep than the old suggested entrance on the Western SE corner of claim.

First timer looking for advice. I live in Pennsylvania and would like to know that if you were a first timer where would you go and what would you take with you. I have a number of items I am taking with me, for example: metal detector, rock picks, metal detector pointer, shovel, gold pan, high banker . Please reply

To bad we have no gold in Pennsylvania its gotta be hiding, the glaciers had to have pushed gold south. My advice? I would go to Roaring Camp mine and spend a week there, and you will be with some very knowledgeable people and they will teach you everything you need to know. And likely find gold since it is an active gold mine.

No its not a GPAA claim but a mine that has been in operation since early 1940's and the own had it all these years and its run now by the family. Its located in California, and it is on the Mokulmne River. You should Google Roaring Camp Gold. You can take all your equipment there as well and they have cabins to rent. And they have gold too and there are miles of areas to explore. As a person starting out, you would get first hand training there as well. Hey, its worth I think the money for 1 week cabin, because you will be RIGHT THERE in an actual 49'niner area.

Are there areas where the fire was that is open to detecting? Seems that those would be great, no snakes or poison oak and clean and bare.

Hi Alex
Sorry you had trouble getting your questions answered here at GPAA, I will try to answer your questions. Roaring Camp is a great place to visit, I have known of a few persons that went there and really liked it. There web link is: http://www.roaringcampgold.com/
The old fire areas I am not sure but came up with a link that I think will lead to some information at: http://www.archives.gov/r...roups/095.html
For Claim questions you can give me a call at GPAA in Temecula I am extension 177
Hope this helps

Alex, We that answer questions are not sitting at our computers waiting for your question to pop up Patience's goes a long ways, you asked a question at 1:30p, at 6:17 your complaining no one has answered your question It could take days to get an answer Personally, I'm not required to nor are we compensated for our 'service' other than maybe Walter, don't know. If you require an answer that quickly, you need to hire someone that can search that stuff for you and get you an answer NOW. To my knowledge the fire area is open, be mindful of private properties and claims. There are very few area's along that river that are open properties, they do exist but not many. There is a small section of BLM land just up from Hwy 49 I personally would not detect in this area due to all the trash that is in the area, unless you like digging trash = wire, lead, pull tops, bullets, cans, bottle tops, random pieces of metal and just maybe a nugget Do your research homework, know your rights and laws. Bill
