So I am planning my very first Nugget Shooting attempt. I will be taking my new Garrett AT Gold and Garrett ATX Deepseeker. I am very excited. I have all of the tools, a ton of "research" knowledge but zero experience in Nugget Shooting and I have never been to the Gold Basin. I will be going alone, setting up my tent and camp area and begin shooting for some yellow stone... So there is the extent of my plan so far LOL... I have just over a month to have a much better plan. So I thought I would turn to my fellow GPAA brethren for all of the intel and advice in hopes to have a better shot at some success. As a secondary interest, I will be also hunting for meteorites as I understand that they have been found in the area as well. What GPAA Claim would I have the best opportunities in? I am thinking that the Bahde claim has the best reputation but I am concerned it's been hunted out with no recent nugget finds that I can find... Any and all intel and advice is welcome. Thank you!

The feedback is overwhelming! I am doing my best to compile it all LOL... Maybe this claim isn't as active as I suspected. Of course most of the info I have found on the Gold Basin is more related to more traditional Gold Prospecting methods such as dry washing and perhaps the GPAA just doesn't have many Nugget Shooters amoung us. If anyone ever does run across this before November 20th, 2016 Any Experience or Knowledge would be helpful and appreciated. I am also wondering if anyone has ever seen or know of any Google Earth overlay map done for the Bahde #10-14 Claims?

LOL... Well I searched our forums for "Bahde" and my post appears to be the only post on the claim. Is it still our claim? I am beginning to wonder.

you may want to change search from topics to posts and from main page search BAHDE.

RE: Arizona BAHDE
So how did this claim trip work out for you? We are going next week to do dry washing and metal detecting. Planning on staying near Chloride,AZ since we are coming from Ohio.
Maybe New Sluice Box??
My son put this together in the shop where he works. Could be the making of a good sluice box. Need to make a spray bar, put in some carpet, expanded metal and some riffles. A pump and some hose. Also need to make some kind of stan...
Arizona BAHDE
May plan a trip to Arizona to the BAHDE claims. Does anyone have any input on these claims? There are several in this area and I have never been. Thank You

RE: New Guide Errors
I am a new member and just received the mining guide (2014 Edition) a week ago. Eager to get out to the field, I just finished plotting all of the Arizona claims in Google Earth, using the coordinates and maps provided. The following are errors and or dis...

If you follow the directions in the book for either Bahde claim you will get lost.
Bahde 10:
If I could attach a dash cam, it will show me stopping at Spring Dr, but going straight as the directions in the book show. (which is wrong and will take you a few miles out of the way).
I did not mark the mileage to Spring Drive, but from Greg's hideout Dr, you turn Left on Spring Drive, follow it to the end, then turn Right on hideout drive (a little confusing, but the word "Greg" is left off the sign.) you will then follow hideout drive until you see the helicopter refueling tanks on your left, turn there, keeping to the left and it will take you to the claim. Somewhere on Spring Drive you will find GPAA signs that will lead you to the claim.
BAHDE 17-18:
Also bad directions in the book. Google "King Tut mine". pull up Google earth and drop in the GPS coordinates from the book, look familiar?
The book will say the claim starts at the mile marker 33 (king Tut mine) and goes in 1/2 mile.. Good luck explaining why you were prospecting on private land.
If you go the the Bill an Linda's sight they will say the GPAA claim starts 1/2 mile from the Dolan Springs road at mile marker 33.

Bob: Thank you, I wish someone had a Google Earth Screenshot of the Gold Basin and had the Claims Boxed so I could be better planning my hunts. I have considered investing $75 for the Gold Basin Footprints but it seems like a little over kill when my only interest would be to visually study the Geography, Topography and Geology. Does anyone know of any good options where someone as done this online or in Google Maps?

I also see on YouTube where Doc, Rob and others have found small Nuggets there... But all several years ago and I really don't know if those finds were on the Bahde Claims. But I don't see where anyone has had any success there and clearly there has been little feedback on the Bahde. I will be shooting around 350 GBs worth of video while there, both Nugget Shooting and Meteorite Hunting in the Gold Basin... So I will be uploading some good YouTube material for others to use to plan their hunts after me. It would be helpful if everyone could give me as much intel as possible to make my time as productive as possible.

Even though my profile says I am a new member, I first joined the GPAA back in the early 1980's when I was living in Las Vegas. (still have the old green maps)
I found more gold on the other side of route 93, in the white hills area. Google earth now shows several commercial mines working close to the area.
I do not know how to post pictures, but still have the directions if anyone in that area is interested.
North of Dolan springs road, there is a restaurant on the west side of the road. within 100 feet south of the restaurant there is a road now called White hills Drive, You will need to turn there and close the gate behind you.(open range). This was all BLM land at one time there are many old mines in the area and had great metal detecting.
The area I liked was almost a straight shot in 3.2 miles then turn Right and you will be at my old spot

When you mentioned Las Vegas....it brought to mind and old conversation I had with a .....well...lets say an old time..Soprano from New York in his elderly years. When I told him about going out into the desert with metal detector to find gold.....he told me can show me many places that would be prime to detect. He said I would find many gold rings/watches/ and chains. It was bad luck to take the jewelry from their whackee's

Leo: Great idea... Too bad you didn't get any better intel on exactly where guys were whacked in the vast desert around Las Vegas LOL Bob: I will get in Google Earth and see where your directions take me. Did you pull any good Nuggets out of there? Anyone: Does anyone know which Bahde Claim Number is most productive for Nugget? Has anyone pulled any Nuggets out of any Bahde Claim in the last few years? Can anyone tell me just how trashy these claims are? I would think if they are hunted out, they would be fairly clean of trash? Are Benches best? Or Dry Washes or in between Dry Washes? Typically how deep to caliche in the Dry Washes, or is most of it already exposed? Any intel or thoughts on the Bahde Claims can be helpful.

At the time I was using a fisher 441, and a keene drywasher, I was finding pickers in the finger washes.
If you go the Bahde 10, you will find a couple of guys living there, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

So I am surprised that not many GPAA members are commenting on the Bahde. Based on the YouTube vids (most from some years ago), it seems here in the states that most Nugget Shooting is done either at Rye Patch Nevada or Gold Basin Arizona, so I really expected a bunch of intel and feedback from alot more GPAA members than what I have gotten so far. For those who have provided feedback I really appreciate it. I will be sure to give my feedback on my return so others in the future will have much clearer picture of what to expect than what I have and can make the most of their trip there. For me, if this what I ended up with... I will just have to rely on my research done outside of the GPAA.

Also interested to know, I've got in-laws in the area and am thinking about trying out the Basin. Been seeing good things out of there from folks on the Steve's detectorprospector website.

I dry washed in two different washes at the claim and came out with two small flower flakes. I spent all day in both washed digging to the false bedrock. But had little luck.
