Does anyone have experience, advise on staking a claim on old closed claims with the BLM?  I have 2 closed claims nearby I would like to claim and work.  Any insights on what forms to start with a send in would be great.

1st need to make sure that someone has not claimed all or portion, it would be under a new name. Go to www.blm.govLR2000 to the Bureau of land Management reporting web site and go through reports for meridian, township, range, section. When you go out look for new postings as an owner of a new claim you are given 90 days to file in county and BLM office. When filling location date is date paperwork was located on claim / date on location notice filed. If one predates yours you will lose your money and not have a claim to show for it. Hope this helps.

BLM web site also has copies of paperwork you can use but you will need to make sure it complies with county recorders guidelines for things like margins and location for recording stamps.

Thanks I did verify in LR2000 is not been refiled as Active in any portion of the original

I have the Location letter started, waiting to see if I can get the original Location filing from the state BLM office.

The original claim is 1/2 a section and has a registration number still in LR2000

I only want to file a new location and claim a portion of that 320 acres.   Any idea if that is a problem?  Would BLM issue a new registration number ORMCxxxxxx? And I want to call the claim something other than the original name, I assume I can do that as well?

A locator can file on 20 acres per locator up to 160 acres. 320 would be two claim with 8 locators on each.
