Would you go there again? We'll be out just before the 4th July. Our son (20) wants to pan / detect, and find some color. Dad & Mom want to be relatively safe.

Every time I have gone there, I have met respectful prospectors. Clear Creek is likely still moving swiftly, so wouldn't suggest trying to cross it. Am not sure what creek level is .....has been a cpl weeks since I have been down there.









Just stay on gravel bar and fill holes in before leaving.


 As for safety, if one can't swim, wear a life vest


Do secure vehicle, when leaving un attended.


Would I go there again, the answer is Yes. I classify down to 12 mesh and sluice that material. Alot of black sand , pinhead size and smaller gold, don't forget a magnet, save black sand.

Arapahoe Bar is a good area,  but just not now. I was several miles east of the Bar today and the water is very high. Something like 950 cfs. In March I could walk all the way across the creek. Not today, It was very hard to find any place to put in a sluice.  I was out with a group and we had so little of an area that we had four sluices set up side by side. Maybe by the time you get here the water level will come down some.

It's dangerous so don't attempt to cross the creek.
