If you just joined, will probably get the 2014 mining guide with your starter kit ( I'm guessing at this)
The February/March Pick and Shovel states the 2018 mining guide will be out in....2018
Either way you will be OK, if you get the 2014 version, eventually you (depending on printing) will get the 2018 version, win win

When you receive the new book it will most likely already be obsolete, learn to use the online Mining Guide, the information contained in there allows you to see and print new and upcoming information. Claims change quickly but the Online guide will give you up to date information, better instructions, and even pictures with exact directions.

The online mining guide is progressing nicely, and is very helpful and will become even better as members add intel
Not sure I would put an "obsolet button" on the new printed guide, still having much intel to gather from it
However, not all have internet access as well as many other reasons
We want a printed guide to have in the truck, which also carries my membership cards

My stuff showed up today. Boy was I happy to see a good pan with the right riffles in it. If the wrong type showed up I was going to use it for my new cereal bowl. I like allot of cereal. Prospecting is hard work. Everything is there as far I originally saw listed. And yah, its a 2014 manual. Like you said, that's for the vehicle for when my chrome book and 4G isn't working or not at home. But this is the first I heard of a membership card. Or is that the cards for the other organizations and clubs you are in?

Nope, not in the guide. But you saying you had them made me go through the box again, 4th time. I found them deviously hidden at the bottom of a introduction letter. Very crafty of them. In plain sight.
