Hey everyone, glad to finally be a member of the GPAA! When I was growing up I went with my grandparents every weekend to the Greeley Hill area to look for gold. My grandpa would dredge and me and my grandma would pan and sluice. We didn't strike it rich but we got gold every time we went out.

I've been trying to get started prospecting again but it's little bit intimidating. I've spent hours looking at online claim maps looking for unclaimed areas to try out. It just feels like everything is either claimed inaccessible or on private property. The few places I made it out to I had 0 luck.

I'm hoping access to GPAA claims will make things a little easier. All I'm really looking for is a nice spot for me and a couple friends to spend the day panning and find a couple flakes of gold. I'm looking at a couple claims in Tuolumne county as those seem to be the closest to me. The claim "Just for money" looks like it could be a good match. If anyone has any experience with this claim or with any other nice spots in Tuolumne county or anywhere in central CA I would appreciate any input, thank you!

Hey Tim. I am also new member of GPAA. Haven’t tried out any of the claims yet but really want to. The most I have done is just panning in Knights Ferry but I had recently bought a couple of sluices and want to get out and give them a try. I live in oakdale so the claims in Tuolumne county would probably be best for me also. Let me know if you want to hook up and give one of the claims a try.

    Hey welcome fellow gold seekers,

Robert, check out all of the claims in your back yard. You could go after work, depending where you work LOL
You "should" be able to find gold on every GPAA claim near by, may take a time or two to find it, but its there.

Tim, forget finding your own claim right away, that requires alot of time, effort, research, and some $$$
Get out there and find some gold. You can figure out later if a claim is right for you.
El Dorado, Tuolumne, Plumas, Sierra counties all have gold on GPAA claims, start with those.
No claims in Amador county, gold is there if you know where to look.

Dont buy alot of equipment right away, a pan or two, classifier, I use a #4 = 1/2" holes, run through a small sluice.
Get out and see what works or doesn't, grow from there.
Check out a local chapter, good people, good information, group outings.

    Bill

Tried to go to Just for Money claim today and found out road was washed out approximately 1.6 miles from claim on jackass creek access rd via Merrell rd. I updated property details page. I think you might be able to access claim from Priest Coulterville rd. To Cuneo rd to Jackass creek access rd

Hey good to see you made it out. Any day out is better than work anytime
That is one claim I have not been JFM. Sometimes just finding the claim is half the fun (at least for me)
Lots of tails out and around Snelling, La Grange, figure out who owns and seek permission to prospect or detect
If you make it through James Town, stop at the small mining shop with the Hangin Man out front. Stay out of Woods Creek

So many area's to check out, so little time.

Hi Robert! You might consider joining a local chapter. As a matter of fact, I am the Vice President of the Delta Gold Diggers, Stockton Chapter of the GPAA. We just had our monthly meeting last night but our next meeting is on June 27th at 7:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge in Stockton on Bourbon St. Just so happens, I am also the Outings Coordinator and we will be having an outing on June 30th to one of the DGD claims. If you are handy with a smart phone, download the Meetup app or go to Meetup.com, register, and search for Delta Gold Diggers. If you don't want to mess with that, we are meeting in the main parking lot at Columbia State Park at 8:00 am and leaving for the claim at 8:15. Come on out and join us. I guarantee color.

    Mike

Edit:  Tim, come on out and join us as well.
