    Hello All,

Just thought I would write a wee bit as I just joined the GPAA.  Have been panning a bit and getting some small bits here and there around Southern California for a few months now.  Just got my Minelab GM 1000 so going to take that out sometime soon and see what damage I can do with that as well.  Travel a lot for work, so hoping I can experience some of the different GPAA claims around the US as schedule permits.  I also like flyfishing, so there is some travel crossover between the two since the waterways are similar.

My youngest daughter (9) has had fun panning with me and can keep all her BBs when she's done, so I'll take her out sometime soon if I can get her away from her piano lessons (hehe).  She also likes mineral collecting, so we have had some fun with that as well.

My immediate goal is to gather enough gold that I can get it refined to make a piece of jewelry for our 30th wedding anniversary (I have given myself 2 years to collect it, and the jeweler 1 year to make it).

Live in the Los Angeles area, and hope to bump into y'all out and about sometime.

    Heavy pans, all.

    Welcome John,

The gold is out there, ya just gotta get it...
Used to be easier when we could dredge, thats how I got the gold to have a ring made for my wife.
Had little nuggets inlayed down both sides that have since worn almost off over the 15 years she has worn it
Raw gold is very soft and wears down over time.
That time frame may be a little short if just starting out, you may want to consider buying raw gold.
Kinda like stopping at the market to buy a fish on the way home from fishing LOL
Be sure to enjoy the surroundings an time out there.

    Bill
