I'm retired from Air Force (22 years of service to this GREAT COUNTRY) and I'm staying @ Royal View Campgrounds in Canon City Colorado. I'll be here from Jun-Sep 18. I'm looking for someone to prospect with or someone who has local knowledge of the area that they are willing to share. I am available both weekends and weekdays.

I have basic equipment: detectors, small 5" trommal, sluices, and more as well as an 4x4 for those hard to get places.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

To all those who have served and will serve the greatest country on earth, I thankyou for the freedom I other's enjoy!!!

    Jim,
Point Bar recreation area is west of Canon City on highway 50. It is listed in the Mining Guide on page PA-34. You can pan and sluice. I'm not sure about power equipment. You better check on that.
The water level is 766cfs. It may go up on the weekend for the rafters. Be on the lookout for snakes.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive the town of Fairplay has a pay to dig site. Go to the town web site to get all the regulations.
