I've got a Gold Bug 2 and have tried it out in 2 locations (haven't found any gold with it yet) but I'd be interested in the adventure as well. One location seemed to be too full of hot rocks and it was beeping at everything (I found a little nugged sluicing in the area so it was gold bearing), the 2nd location didnt have any issues but I didnt find anything there (found a couple pickers there sluicing). Other than that I am not experienced in it at all and would be great to get with other like-minded people.

Hey Daniel, Iv been looking to do some detecting (although i have a shitty detector) around gpaa claims too. I sold my gold bug2 a while ago(needed the money) but never found anything other than trash with it. the goldbug 2 needs to be ground balanced maybe thats y your beeping so much?

From research it seems that the area and locaton has TONS to do with finding nuggets/ pickers. I know some detectorists that do a hybrid detector/crevicing... ie using the detector in cracks near streams to find a sign of anything,  cleaning out that crack and panning it.
