Today is my first day going out to a gpaa claim. Looking forward to seeing what I find when I get there. I know there are not to many different claims here in the state of Texas that are close by for prospecting, so going to head out to the closest one to my home town of Dallas. If anyone has any tips I could use them. I know I am really going to enjoy getting out in nature.

Started to head out to the claim today, and the skies decided to open up and start pouring down rain.

Check the Round Rock GPAA, the Kriver Campground and the Oklahoma Gold Prospectors Chapter 21 of the GPAA websites for more info on Gold Prospecting close to Dallas.

Sometimes prospecting in the rain is the best (as long as it doesnt fill your 5gl bucket before you can)
Keeps the onlookers and the dust down
It helps to have rain gear as well

I think it was on one of the Gold Fever shows that Tom said the best time to go prospecting is when it is raining or cold. No one around but you.
