I purchased both the Garrett carrot and White's TRX Bulleye pinpointer last year. They both claim to be waterproof up to 10 feet but I've done my testing and it's NOT TRUE. Also, The Garrett pinpointer is NOT sensitive enough at the very tip, but more on the sides. Was this designed specifically for pinpointing inside of holes? I don't know, but the White's is substantially better at detecting at the tip and at a distance. I bought one specifically for sniping, so I wanted some water resistance. It's best to wrap it up well in a ziplock bag if using underwater.

By far the Falcon MD-20 is the best in the world for small gold. No other Pinpointer has that much sensitivity to tiny gold. I have pinpointed -100 mesh gold using the Falcon. One more feature not found on other pinpointers is that the Falcon MD-20 will also tell you if it is black sand by giving you a signal as you pull away from the specimen.
The Falcon MD-20 makes a signal going to the specimen if it is non ferrous.
The Falcon has a 3 foot long cord so you can use it for crevicing in water as long as the control box doesn't get wet. They make an wand attachment for the Falcon so you can get to the bottom of all the cracks, crevices or under other items.

I have three pinpointers, and by far, the cheapest one from Harbor Freight is the best in performance, not so in appearance .

Well, I found the cheapest (used) on eBay $229.00+ $13.99 Shipping. 90% of the time, you get what you pay for! The manual also states that it's probe is waterproof with it's 5 foot cable.

Looks like they are based in Phoenix. I am going to phone them and ask if it is assembled or manufactured in China. I hope not!

Like I mentioned in another post, you get what you pay for 90 per cent of the time. So I grave doubts that Harbor Freight sells a worthwhile gold pinpointer (most of their stuff is made in 中国.) I can testify that I have lived back in China in the 80's and 90's and oversaw their manufacturing. Believe me, if they know they can get away with it just temporarily, they will continue to make stuff of questionable quality.
