Heading to the Rock and Gem show in Quartzsite for a week or two this Friday. Driving down from Montana through Denver Colorado and head back via Navada. My wife and I are new tho prospecting and are wondering if there are any good places along the way to prospect and rock hound. I have Gold Bug, Multisluice, a few pans classifiers and a hammerdrill. Would love to meet up with someone to learn from. Otherwise some suggestions of good places to prospect at would be wonderful. I have only been to 2 GPAA claims here in Montana, they seem so well worked over, I could not find anything. But I am probably in the learning curve for a year or two.

    Ken,

Arapahoe Bar on Clear Creek might be worth a try. It is west of Denver East of Golden. It's a public prospecting area.
I was going to send a private message but can not get access to that at this time.
If you want more info I can give it to you.

Call local chapters and ask. always good info from them. Could be an outing somewhere. Check the claims guide.

I go to the Quartzsite show every year and I drywash in the creekbeds down from Domerock on the gpaa claim. I always get a little gold. I camp out at scadalin wash. 14 days for free.
