    Hello!
I been scoring the web and different mining websites for any info about the California dredge ban. I keep hearing "YES! In 2019!"
But now that it is 2019 I cant find anything.

So Where can I go for a accurate account of whats going on? I don't need to read a bunch of legal papers for a simple yes or no do I??

    Thanks!

No quick answer, but from what I've been hearing on the grapevine up here, you had better have plenty of time for the process and a deep wallet.

    Welcome Stephen,

Try (LOL) contacting the dept. fish and wildlife, like fishing licenses, they sold the dredge permits
Ask for names, dates, time you called to inquire about permits, it's amazing how information will change talking to different people
One will tell you no way, some other sure no problem, sign here
A fellow on another board I think would know some info., I will inquire

I too kept hearing that this was going to be the year could do it again, lots of people were optimistic, but everything I see online now says No. Fish and Wildlife site says No, cites 2016 law, lawsuits, etc. It seems from a cursory read that right now the battle continues, technically it might be possible this spring depending on whether the water board develops a permitting structure. https://www.desertsun.com/story/news/politics/2018/06/29/suction-dredge-mining-advocates-foes-regroup-after-clarifying-legislation-grinds-halt/742999002/

I just bought a dredge from Keene Engineering, ended up talking to several people on the phone during the ordering process, I am not prospecting in CA any more so wasn't after an exact answer, but in conversation everything I was hearing led me to believe that the ban is still in effect in CA.... and the dredge builders/sellers are going to know.

I DO know that some folks who know the area well are taking their chances in remote areas. Also in reading, the legal penalties weren't that high.................

No news is bad news I guess.
The water board (who ever they are) decides in their mind with serious foot dragin, then the dept fish and wildlife has their say and serious foot dragin, years later we have all but given up ever being in the water again we all fade away, problem solved
Bottom line, THEY DONT WANT US/ANYONE IN THE WATER.

I have witnessed dredging on FS land, was told the feds dont really care if not being stupid
    Be careful
