    Hello all,

This is my first post and first time being a member of GPAA.  After watching Tom Massie for a very long time on the Outdoor Channel, and wanting to join this grand organization I was able to do so this year.  As I said I have been a fan of the Gold Fever show for a long time, but never really could afford to join the GPAA until this year.  Things have changed a bit for me over the years.  My oldest son is moving off to college this month.  My daughter is a senior in high school, and my youngest will be following in their footsteps in about four years.  Our church last September lost its pastor and the new pastor we hired is a lifetime GPAA member and an LDMA member.  In July I was able to go to the Swank property east in Ohio.  This was a life long dream for me as long as I have been watching the Gold Fever show.  Needless to say it was every thing that I hoped it would be.  We were able to work the stream for about 8 hours and when we did our clean up were not disappointed.  It wasn't a lot of gold but we did have color.  Guess you could say I am hooked, got the fever our any other analogy you could put to the fact that it was fun and much hard work and good exercise.

I have been a member since October 2013. Live in the middle of the desert, behind Big Bear, CA., population 250 people.

Have been wanting to go to a mine in Big Bear but don't know what to expect. I am very green except for studying I've done on geology. Are people willing to teach me if I show up at the dig?

    Linda,

I joined in February 2014 and it has been my experience that every time I go to an outing with a chapter they are always willing to teach you. I do recommend finding a local chapter and meeting with them. In that area there should be a couple within an hour or 2 of you as well as many GPAA claims and leases.

    Happy hunting.

Hi Linda,  I am new to prospecting as well.  They are giving sound advice. Find a chapter near you to learn from.  I am learning from my pastor.  He has been doing this for over 15 years and is very knowledgeable.  He is GPAA, LDMA and I am very fortunate to have him to draw upon.  On Sept 9 we will be taking a group from our small church to Ohio to share the gold bug with.  We are using it as a retreat of sorts as well as a fun excursion and a possibility finding some gold as well as doing some mining in God's word for gold and gems of truth.  I am looking forward to this for the fellowship as well as the scriptural and gold mining that we will be doing.
