Whatsup bud. Graves Mountain if off of hwy 378 just west of Lincolnton, Ga, which is where I was born and raised at. They have an annual dig for one weekend a year but it is otherwise shut down the rest of the year. They lease the mountain out to movie makers and just filmed something up there last week. It's more of a gem and ore site more than a gold site these days since they closed the property to mining quite a few years ago. I hope and pray that they will open it back up someday but it probably wont happen. Ive been trying to find out who the surrounding land owners are with very little luck. It is the higest peak in the area for quite a distance so there has to be some amazing runoff from the mountain in all directions. Lots of Army Corps of Engineers land around here that is public use but I havent found much information on maps. Some of the lake lots are owned right down to the water line and other areas the corps has an easement in place that is public use. Im thinking about getting a kayak to gain access to alot of the out of the way creek entrances that are nearly impossible to get access to by land due to the terrain around here. The lake is over 70,000 acres so there are alot of opportunities there that im looking into.
