I was in the market for a dedicated VLF gold detector earlier this year. I wanted to support a local dealer so my research did not include all brands, just Minelab, Whites, Garrett, and Fisher. Since I have no interest in relics or coins I did not consider the Minelab Equinox 800, and since by the time you get the small coil for it you'll be over a $1000, that did not hurt my feelings lol. My research told me that the best choices were between the Gold Monster 1000, the Gold Bug II and the White's 24k. I honestly believe that between those three, for a dedicated VLF gold detector, you can't go wrong. Each one has little things about it that may make a difference for you, for me I wanted something that would detect small gold all three of those do, and they were all available through local dealers.
