Gold nugget belt buckle - It weighs 2.15 ounces with belt hardware. My question is, do I remove braized hardware or sell as is? Thanks for any help! HHTA Neal

How can you even be sure that it is a real gold nugget? or something plated with gold?

Hi Neal, In my opinion, your best bet is to remove it. Without knowing the exact weight of the nugget(s), it will be difficult to accurately price, as well as find a buyer. Keep the hardware though to potentially sell alongside (you never know if someone might be interested in re-mounting). If the mounting and/or removal process has altered the nugget’s surfaces at all, don’t be surprised if the premium-to-spot ratio is skewed towards spot. At least, if my experience as a coin collector translates over, that will likely be the case.

Welcome Neal, Look for a jeweler or gold smith to do the "unmounting", someone that has done this type of work before talk to them before you do, just so you are both on the same page as what is to be done It doesnt take much to mess up a nice nugget, if in fact thats what it is no disrespect, hope they are and sell for a decent price if that is where you are headed Nuggets can bring good money, check around before you sell, know what you have in value unscrupulous types will try and rip you off, dont let that happen Bill
