It's a ghostown in these forums, very difficult to get an answer unless there are salesminvolved or a lead for someone in the market for a metal detector, everyone is quick to answer those. As for tough but? Dunno did you ever get an answer?

    Look under "ask Kevin"

If memeory serves, no interest in the claim, let it go

It was listed in the last update booklet under claims that were let go. Probably because there were no reviews about the claim even though it was there for years. I was wanting to go there this summer. So far a new claim hasn't been filed there so shouldn't it be ok to prospect there?

    Welcome Russell,

    In my opinion,
Dont move in the 640 excavator
I am not abdicating high grading someones claim,
If No signs of a monument with paperwork attached, no one around, no signs of activity
    give it ago

i was told by Kevin, that members complained about the parking, ingress as it was right on the HWY and its a fast piece of road for sure and no real member reports. It was not convenient at all to go to but the gold was good from every You tube video i found showing folks taking dirt from behind the boulders home in buckets and getting some pretty darn good flakes.

Hey folks, according to the claim updates guide sent out in March 2020 Tough Nut was dropped by Tom Massie, Cindy Massie, and Brandon Johnson but according to county records no one has filed an new claim there. The parking is atrocious and the gold is hard to get to. It's fun if you like it rough, but it lives up to its name's sake.
