I have a four legged stand I extend tall enough to fit a five gallon bucket under to collect tailings. This flows into a 20 gallon cement mixing bucket from home depot. A lot of muck settles in this. In the 20 gallon cement mixing bucket, I cut a lip where water flows in a 10 gallon cement mixing tub. In this 10 gallon tub is where I place the water pump. I wrap the water pump in some sort of mesh cloth to catch organics. Big point is the more water you have the longer you can recirculate. Here's my rules of thumb for recirculating. For every five gallons of dirt you run, you produce one gallon of muck to clean out of the bottom of the tubs. Two gallons of water dissapear into every five gallon bucket of dry dirt you run, so as you clear the tailings out and muck out the tub, you need to add plenty of water. For me it's about afive more gallons of water for every three buckets of pay dirt I run. It takes me about an hour to screen enough dirt to -8 mesh to fill a five gallon bucket so I can scoop it through the gold cube. Good luck to you and I'd like to see a post on what you decided and how your clean up went.

I have looked at them and wondered if they are worth it .I have an older a51 sluice with a hopper box on it and I thought about using the Martin gold stop mat in it without the riffles. In it . He said i can run an 1100 g p h pump to recucircule it.

I think the gold cube is a great machine, its just that it takes time to classify down to 8 mesh. There's trommels you can put on top to help. Its just Don't expect to run a bucket a minute with whatever setup you choose. IME and never having used a hopper, but have recirculated with a A 51 sluice, the only way I see it recirculating is if the material was already classified to 8 mesh. I would think the hopper would need to classify to 1/8 mesh, but most hoppers I've seen won't go that small. I've went up to 3000 GPH with my A-51 and it still wasn't enough to push 1/2" stones through using both ridged matting and another run with 3/8 punch plate. I only bring this up because I spent a lot of money and time on dumb ideas, most of which were my own.

I set mine up in a large plastic concrete mixing tub with a smaller Rubbermaid container that will catch about 5 gallons of tailings before I have to empty it. I typically run cons from my mini highbanker or sluice box through it so the water usually stays pretty clean. At this point my material has been classified to either -8 or down to 12 depending on how much time I want to spend on it. I also use the same setup when I run the goldcucbe highbanker attachment, works great!

I have the a51 with gold stop mat and i classify to 1/8 and run 1100 g p h pump to recuiculate and it works great . I made some spray bars like I saw on you tube and i think it will work great too.

Hi. I did a search and my topic led me here. Yes, I know I'm a couple of years in requesting info, but I'm going to the desert in a couple of months to pan for gold, I was considering getting a Royal "dry washer" instead of the gold cube. What are your thoughts on that? I was hoping not to have to take to much water to run dirt thru a gold cube, (but I love the set-up for the gold cube). Thanks for any info. Lia

I agree with the dry washer use for the desert. My last trip I brought 11 buckets of 1/4" minus home to run through my gold cube with the dream mats and that was a lot of time spent at 20 minutes per bucket. Not to mention a lot of clean up at home. Next time I'm going to be running the dry washer in the desert and then running the cons through the gold cube on site. Really quick and so far I'm finding everything in the first mat so the plan is to just run the cons through the first tray and then pan it out to see how that spot is.
