Hi all. I just moved to Virginia, Culpeper County, and only just realized that I moved to the heart of Virginia gold country. I'm looking for some prospecting partners now for some weekend fun when the weather warms up a bit. There doesn't seem to be much GPAA activity here but it looks like we have a lot of potential. If your interested lets form a posse and git some gold.

Hello Jose. I'm looking into local laws for VA and am unfamiliar with West Virginia laws. That being said I am happy to get together. I do know that there are a number of old gold mines just south of Culpeper VA, on private property, but there may be opportunities along some of the larger rivers. Feel free to shoot me an email, and anyone else too. It is giammatteophilip@gmail.com.

Hi Phil I have been in contact with the personnel at Monongahela National Forest, WV and it is ok to Pan for gold there no sluice boxes or any motorized equipment allowed but they do allow panning it is a 4 and half hour drive for me to get to that site look it up on youtube there is a camp ground there and the creek runs along side of it. Might be a cool place to go for a weekend

There is also a place called the Lucky Strike Gold mine in NC it is a 5 hour drive to get there but they have gold. And you can use hi bankers etc i am about to purchase a mini hi banker. They give you a bulldozer scoop of pay ($36.00 - reasonable) and you run it thru your hi banker or you can go along the creek and pan or sluice. Check that place out on Youtube.

Hello Heather. Being new to the area I am still looking at places to go. Perhaps we can get William Barlow and Jose Jusino to do an outing at Contrary Creek. Getting dirty is always more fun with friends.

Hey Philip Giammatteo Sorry haven't been on the gpaa site to much the past few years since there is no claims in or around Virginia. I did join CVGP for a couple years but with my work schedule I didn't get to go out much on their properties. I am fixing to go up on the Little River in Floyd County this Saturday if anyone would like to join me I'll be around this area 36°58'06.0"N 80°21'59.8"W with my 4inch dredge.

Hey william! I just joined this community. I'm up in the southern maryland area, but would love to start learning about prospecting and wouldn't mind coming down to virginia if you're still around! I have my 1st panning kit coming in soon and would love to meet up over a weekend at somepoint.
