I was just wondering why the LDMA doesn't have a property in Alaska? They could buy some land in a gold area and start a camp that people could drive to from the lower 48.i am sure it would be a primitive camp but that would sure be nice.

I agree. That would be a great attraction to obtain new members, and the old members would sure utilize it.

    Just my view, Frank...-

Hey Vince,  LDMA Camps are exclusive for LDMA members.

The only time GPAA members have access to LDMA camps are:

    1. attending one of the GPAA common digs. Look under community events to find dates and locations, or call the office for more info or booking a spot.

    2. you can request a 3 day, 1 time only pass from the LDMA offices, but you have to put in for specific dates and a location.

    3. as a 3 day guest of an LDMA member, but as a guest you cannot bring any of your motorized equip (ex. dredge, highbanker,etc.). You are only allowed to pan and sluice, unless you are helping the member run their equipment.

So, as a 3 day guest, a D-6 and 866 loader are out? Well shoot!!

No, really, thank you Paul.  Don't have any of those anyway.

Seems like, to me anyway, the membership fees are a lil high. But, looking at what folks are finding on the LDMA claims it might

be worthwhile.  I should have checked more on the GPAA claim locations before I joined. Only 3 by me (2.5 hrs away) but couldn't

find locations unless you were a member.  Anything else is 5-7 hours away.

So, are there any LDMA claims within 1-3 hours from Lewiston, Idaho? Or any claims around Elk City or Dixie Idaho?  I might

be interested in joining if the claims aren't half a day away or in a area that I frequent often.

    thanks again Paul.

Yeah no doziers or excavators, darn it.

That was my main reason for upgrading to the LDMA, more places to go. Here in the SE there are only 3 GPAA leases, so joining LDMA gave me 3 more places to go in the SE.

You know a little money down, (check with the office, sometimes they run membership specials) and at least $30 a month and a $10 a month maintenance fee, makes it a pretty affordable deal. At least to me it is. Check in with the office they will send out an info packet with details.

No camps in Idaho, but there is 1 in Oregon, 1 in Nevada and 5 in Calif. The rest of the locations are listed in the forum under the LDMA section.

    Good luck out there, Paul

Forgot to mention when you join the LDMA, it also includes a lifetime GPAA membership. You can utilize both LDMA camps and GPAA claims.

Vince and any other GPAA members contemplating the LDMA,

You owe it to yourself to check out a LDMA Outing. You will then fully understand why joining the LDMA was (in my case and opinion) a smart move. There were many more pros than cons in my CBA analysis of joining the LDMA.

Each person and their circumstances will be different than mine, so, research it to understand if it makes sense for you.

    Respectfully,

Seems to me that GPAA membership is the appetizer.  LDMA is where the feast is! I'm checking into it and will likely get serious about it when I get closer to retirement... Having to work full time puts a bit of a dent in prospecting time.
