Brian,
There are several chapters in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia as well as Coker Creek in Tenn. I would get in touch with one of them through the chapters page here and go out with them. I joined GPAA in February and have been out with the Southern Gold Miners Chapter in Buchanan, GA a few times and learned a lot from them, My gold recovery has doubled from the tips they gave me. And its a lot of fun.

A chapter is a group that has meetings and outing periodically. Not sure of what the meetings are all about... I've been wanting to go to my local chapter meeting to meet fellow prospectors in my area, but something always comes up and I miss it. Just google gpaa chapters sc and u should be able to find a chapter/group new u. I think during there outings, they'll hold raffles and the winners sometimes get some of the latest mining equipment. That and gold raffles ,where u draw a # and they have plastic containers that have #'S that corespond with #'s being drawn. U win the gold that's in that plastic container with your # on it. They also have group digs... I'd check it out if u r interested in learning how to be miner/ prospector.
