First trip to Italian Bar - What should I bring?

    Hey all,

    My name is Dan. I've been in the GPAA for a few years, but I am a new member to LDMA. I'm taking my mom with me this week to Italian bar from Los Angeles. We're renting an RV and driving up on Wednesday. 

    For us "green horns" can any of you "old timers" suggest items we should bring that only years of experience can give? My mom is a little worried that we won't have some essential items (??) once we get there.

    Hey Dan, Welcome to the LDMA family. Sorry I live on the east coast,( right outside Atlanta ) and haven't had a chance to make it out west yet. So hopefully some of the local folks can help you out, with what you might need at I-Bar. Just wanted to say Hi and welcome, and good luck on your adventures. Paul

    Daniel, I learned to pan just up the road from Italian Bar at the 49er RV park and then spent a day over in Jamestown learning how to classify and run a sluice. You should have a great time in that area. The gold is good and if you forget anything there are plenty of places to pick it up. I would bring a set of claissifiers, buckets and a good shovel. If you own a sluice or high banker that is good. I am not an LDMA member but I think they also have some community equipment at the LDMA camps.

    I SURE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR SELF OUT THERE .IT WAS A PLEASURE HELPING YOU ALSO TAKE LOTS OF PICS .A COUPLE OF KEY ITEMS YOU WILL NEED TO   BRING WOULD BE  A SHOVEL,BUCKETS AND GLOVES .HAVE FUN

    Anyone ever been to the Itallian bar Public use area right outside the LDMA claim boundries. Plan on checking out the area this weekend.

    You should be warned as the road into I bar is narrow and windy .Some larger units will not make the trip .I would suggest you contact the caretakers and see what they say.Just for precaution.
