Looking for someone in the Boise  Idaho area to go nugget shooting and prospecting with. I have a Gold Bug 2 and a Minelab GP 3500 with several coils and I also have a highbanker dredge combo, 4X4 truck and a good camper trailer. Have full access to a claim out of Fairfield towards Atlanta ID. Hit me up!!

    Hi Lester,

I am planning my end-of-year "mancation" as my wife calls it, and heading south this weekend to Arizona. I have really been wanting to check out some areas along the way to get some experience. I am new to the nugget shooting aspect of detecting and am really foggy about 1. where one is able to go and 2. how to use my machine.

Not the greatest time of year but I don't have much choice. This is when I am able to get away. What are the conditions like in S Idaho and Northern Nevada? Are there any places one can go and have an enjoyable experience? I want to make the most of my time on this trip but am really bummed about my lack of knowledge of the areas and am afraid I am just going to waste a bunch of time driving and not have much fun.

Hi Peter: I think the Rye Patch area in between Lovelock NV and Winnemucca NV and to the west of the Interstate is a good place to go look, take the Imlay exit and head west. If you have a laptop, there is a program you can buy called Mine Cache that overlays Google Earth that has all the claims both active and inactive on it and I believe it is around $30, it will give you a good idea where the gold is and the info and the people that own the claims and especially the inactive claim areas. Idaho is still winter in the places I know where gold can be found. Good luck on your hunt. Les
