Been watching Gold Fever and slowly getting hooked on the idea of prospecting.  Currently in the market for a compact portable sluice box and a metal detector.  I have my camping equipment and a gold pan.  Been slowly putting together my stuff for a low key simple personal operation to get my knees dirty, shoes wet and in the end hopeful but also realistic in finding some color this spring, summer and fall.  Im single, divorced and outside of school and work have no real commitments.  Love the idea of finding and making new friends and exploring Idaho and having new adventures.

    Tim,

I have a Royal Manufacturing 30" sluice. The flare comes off and fits in a backpack along with my pan. I'm sure other company's make small sluices as well. Try out Gold Fever Prospecting on the web, they have lots of goodies. I don't think they advertise in the Gold Prospectors magazine.

Hope this helps. Have fun in the dirt !

I have that same sluice and like it a lot for just out looking and to keep in the rig for spur of the moment use.  If you are close to a Gold Show, you can usually pick up some decent buys and have a look at all different kinds of equipment and talk with the vendors about it.  Usually very good pricing on detectors, I knw around here, the MXT is usually about a hundred off at the shows.
