I was curious about how long can a prospector stay on a club claim in Forest service lands. My son and I usually stay a whole summer dredging on claims we have permission to dredge on. I just recently joined GPAA, monthly for now, because we saw some interesting areas where the clubs claim is on the Middle fork Boise river here in Idaho. We usually work upstream more on friends claims, but needed a change in scenery...too many dredges up in that area. I know if your working a claim, the stay can be indefinite. We keep our area clean, have all permits, paid my membership to the mining district, etc, and now my paid club receipt. I guess I can copy the card...its hard up here in the mountains, with just a tablet, and a friends wifi. But we were planning to stay until kid goes back to school. That's why I'm asking what the stay limit is for the club. School starts the last week off August. (I have been told by residents of nearby Atlanta that I can't stay there more than 14 days.....kinda defeats the 'indefinately' part of 'as long as your working the claim'.) I have to drive up to Atlanta to check my emails with my tablet and friends wifi, so hope to hear from you soon.

    Thanks,

    Howdy,

After further investigation and talking directly to forest rangers here, (Idaho), If you are camped on your claim, with proper permits, you can stay on claim indefinately, as long as your working your claim. I had to check this thoroughly, because where I prospect is quite remote. There are stipulations, like one, you must keep you base clean. Pack out garbage. Leave it better than when you arrived.
