Weather permitting, the first week of January I'm going to give the Three Fault claim a good working over. I'll be using a Goldbug 2, 6.5" coil, I'm going to be camping on the claim and spend four days there. I've read all the reports posted and just wanted to know if you or anyone had any more information to add. I can use my 10"coil if needed to get a little bit more depth but I'm hoping there is the real small gold there too that the Goldbug with the 6.5" coil can find. Looking at google maps it appears to have quite a few small washes on it, is there shallow/exposed bedrock on the claim?

    Gerold,
Take both coils. When you hit a spot that pays with the 6.5 re-hunt with the 10. The difference between the two coils on the GBII is like going to the truck and grabbing a different detector.
The ground can be a little wonky in spots so make sure that you are setting to the ground you are working. If you are not sure how to really tune it to the ground there is a link to my article in the last magazine that is the nuts and bolts of setting to the ground not a manual with my trusted GBII, https://www.mydigitalpublication.com/publication/?m=45825&i=679202&p=14
Go SLOW and then SLOW DOWN more.

Thanks Kevin, I'll check out the link too, I have two GB2's and keep a 10" coil on one so I can grab on go. I'll post my results when I get home too.

    Hi Gerold
I'm not Kevin and certainly don't have his expertise but I did work this claim 8-10 times in the spring and 3-4 times in November, likely to be going back in the next few weeks.
I did find a couple of pickers out of the main washes in the feeder channels, with my GPX 5000.
There's a main wash on the west side running north and south.
Another wash runs east and west on the south side of the claim.
Lots of quartz outcroppings throughout the claim and older test diggings.
Lots of trash around the 2 smallest hills on the south end, not so much everywhere else.
Hope this helps and you have good luck.

Thanks Aaron for the reply and posting your review too, and you too Craig. All the claim reviews help to get get a feeling for the area before I get there. I'll post mine too when I get back.
