I’m having a hard time finding a used Minelab GM1000. Can anyone recommend another metal detector that is easy to use and same price range? Where I can look etc. I’ll be in the Vegas area this Sunday and need to purchase one. Thanks!!

A reminder to check the serial number to be sure it is a genuine product. If you are buying from a store, there is probably no problem, but I bought one from a dealer on EBay, it was counterfiet and broke in one week. The way to check is to look at the website of the manufacturer. I love my Gold Bug Pro. Works great. First one of course was not genuine. With No abuse it was dead in a week. Made sure to buy the second one directly from Fisher Labs on Amazon.

Yes your are correct buy from a dealer or a store if you can, sadly sometimes that is not even worth it either. Case in point: My brother bought a metal detector he had wanted for a very long time. This was at the Sierra Gold show about 5-6 years ago, sadly the detector he bought stopped working after taking it out 2 times. He read and re-read the instructions and replaced the batteries and did everything he could to get it to work again, just in case of operator error. Now he has been stuck with a $800 detector that doesn't work and he doesn't know how to repair. Recently though he was talking to someone and he thinks they may be able to repair it, but they said they would be willing to take it in trade with a few extra $$$$ and get him a new one. He's been retired for abut 5 years and doesn't have a lot of extra cash laying around.

Fyi this Friday-Sunday (Feb 12-14 2021) the Quartzite Gold Show will be on. Minelab is one of the sponsors along with Miner's Depot. https://minersdepot.com/ https://quartzsitegoldshowcom.wordpress.com/

If purchased from a dealer or store, they should have a good warranty. The Fisher Labs does, but that is how I found out mine was a counterfeit. They asked me for the serial number. If buying from a dealer(even if on Amazon) you will know the detector is genuine and has a warranty.

I'll ask my brother, it's been such a long time. I think the warranty is done by now. I wasn't with him at that time he bought it. I think this was an "spur of the moment buying" of something he wanted and he had the money at the time.
