    I'v tried to ask on the computer the rangers but no luck, I want to detect the Yuba and don't want trouble or looking over my shoulder, any ideas's where it is legal?

    Which fork of the Yuba are you wanting to explore and where? The South Fork Yuba River State park is hands and pans only. Otherwise as long as you are not on someone's claim you should be good to go. The North and Middle forks are heavily claimed. Hope this helped.
