No GPAA claims anywhere in central Oregon. You have to go either west of the crest of the cascades, or over in Baker county.

There used to be some claims on Scissors Creek between prineville and Walton lake. Last I looked about 5 years ago, all were closed and not active. Have been told that the gold was under an average of three ft of overburden. The 100?? rd was listed as open to motorized use, but the spur down to the creek was closed.There were some active claims on the creek along the main road going up there, but don't know if they are still active. Not GPAA in any case.

If you get over to the Sweet Home area, contact the Brownsville chapter,Mid Valley Prospectors. I'm part owner of two of the Quartzville group. And there is about 8 miles of public area on the creek. Access is by paved road all the way, and one good gravel roads to the mid and upper end of one of them. Wendy can put you in touch with me.
